While burning/trying to burn CD-R both CD drives will not see a blank disc, they can read a disc with data. The CDRW will burn CDs. Device Manager does not show any problem with the drives. Any idea on what happened?

When you insert a blank disc Windows will act as if nothing was put into the drive. This is normal. There is absolutely nothing on the disc, so what is it supposed to do?
If you are in WinXP and have the built in burning features enabled Windows will show a blank disc has been inserted. If the built in burning features are disabled it will, as it should, show nothing.
I downloaded Burn4Free CD burning software and the program keeps telling me to put a disc in the CDRW drive when there is one loaded. Tried several CD brands and keep getting the same response. My Nero 5.5.10 software suddenly gave me "invalid block address" each time I tried to burn so I tried Burn4Free which did not work. I uninstalled all burner software and reinstalled Nero 5.5.8 from the original disc and that program burns; Burn4Free still does not see any disc in the CDRW. (Also tried Nero 6.0 Demo which was extremely SLOW "analyzing" the tracks to be burned; took me almost an hour to burn 650MB of MP3 files at 24X. Thank you for your comments.
