I usually use iTunes to rip my CD's so I can play them on my PC but it always messes up the tags and I need to be able to rip them to other formats besides .m4a and the others iTunes offers...

What's a good, free cd ripping software that lets you rip to many different formats (mp3's aren't a requirement) and won't make all the tags horribly modified?

I've used CDex and am impressed by the results. It supports ripping to a number of different formats. Never had an issue with the tags; they're fetched through CDDB.

I recently switched over to EAC from CDex. EAC was harder to get setup, but now I love it. CDex is really good too.. and easy to get started with.
