Started my fist new box project-Put the hard drive
(IBM 75GXP/15G) as master on the primary, and CDROM as master on the secondary-boots fine -but the CD (Mitsumi 48x)does not appear-??

MSI 6337 mobo (815E)Award 6.0

ps. works fine if I do CD master HD slave on the primary. But I would like to seperate them as I am considering RAID stripping another 75gxp.
thx Howard

How much have you fiddled with the BIOS? Try setting the CDROM's settings (primary/slave) to "none". Award BIOSs should report "Found CDROM:..." at POST. And it never hurts to double-check the jumpers on the drives. 😀

No reason to set the CDrom Jumper to Master. Just set to slave or none.

Yes, in bios set secondary IDE detection to AUTO. Then watch at startup. You should see the bios searching for and finding your CDrom during bootup.

If you are having problems accessing the CDrom to start your OS setup on the harddrive, sometimes you need to load DOS level drivers to get the drive working. Depends on the OS you are loading and the method you are trying to use to load.
