Is K-Hypermedia any good?

cool.. just ordered 2 spindles. Just what I needed to go along with my new 24x burner 🙂

I have been using Dysan 8X CDR on my Lite-on 24X burner. Never have any problem when burning full speed.

Maybe brand does matter.

If I happen to upgrade my burner, would I have to buy new cd-rs? I have a 12X right now and mostly 12X+ cd-rs. Say I get a 24X, do I need new cd-rs. It's not the burner that differentiates between the cd-rs right? It's the software. Any insights?

You won't have to buy new CD-Rs if you buy a faster burner. The speed rating on the CD-R media means that it is certified by the manufacturer to be burnt at that speed. Therefore you may still be able to burn at higher speeds. It depends largely on the quality of the CD-Rs that you have. If by chance you are not able to burn consistently at 24 X, you can always burn the discs at 12 X until you've exhausted your current stock.

Your software should let you set the burn speed. If your software doesn't even let you do this, I advise finding a different burn util. And as evertull said, there are some cd-r's you can "overclock" 😉

**** Update ****

I ordered these disks and on the website they appeared to be KHypermedia brand of disks (which I've used and like), however, they come in as blank-back generic disk with no brand name whatsoever.

This deal just went cold 🙁

Ditto - Got stuck with 4 spindles. These don't appear to be KHypermedia at all...

<< don't knock em til you try em, I got these and they work fine >>

Maybe, but I don't like the disks with no backing on them. Besides, they showed them being Hypermedia brand on the page which is like false advertising to me. Has anybody got a CDinfo on these disk? Hypermedias were TY.

BTW, I called and they said they would refund my money, but I would have to pay the shipping back to them. Not worth it to me, but, Bellgoody, you might be interested in doing it considering you have 4 spindles of them.

got 4 spindles in (the limit of 1 doesnt matter)

these ARE kingston hypermedia. they are the EXACT same as the 12x branded i have been using forever, except rated for 24x. havent been able to burn them at 24x as i only have an 8x burner at the moment.

these look and are packaged the exact same as all the K-H products. they even smell the same 🙂
