Okay, I have a presentation (powerpoint- it's cool because we have a really nice sony digital projector for it too) to do on CDs for electricity/electronics class.
Here is what I have to cover:
History (Ummm...I was born when they came out)- I just know they came out in the mid-80s to very little fanfare and weren't really adopted till the 90s and that they were hella expensive in the early days of CDs.
How it works- I really don't know how the laser reads it; does anyone have any links to articles on this?
Nomenclature- I need a labeled diagram, any tips on where to find one?
Brands- I've got this completely covered.
New Technologies- TDK's multilevel CDs should impress the teacher as should a brief mention of DVDs.
Other- I'll talk about burners and how they use a laser to "melt" the bottom of CDRs and CDRWs and how CDRWs can be "remelted" for later usage. Also, for store bought CDs how they are made by stamping the CDs- but how are they stamped? Is it a laser cut stamp?
Any other info you have would be greatly appreciated. It's about a 5-10 minute presentation but I really wanna wow the guy so maybe I can get an A+ in this class- he doesn't give out below a B+ I think but he is stingy with those A+'s.
Thanks!
