Err, I certainly don't want to make anyone feel foolish, but if you are having low-volume problems with this unit, or the 'volume doesn't change' issue.... look at the jack your headphones are plugged into.... There is a black 'Line Out', and a green 'Headphones'... I made the same mistake.

Carl's absolutely right. The Line Out volume won't change, and will be quieter. And the Line Out is located in the front, where you'd expect to find a headphone out instead. Usually Line Outs are towards the back of the unit. Strange design choice.

Naturally, you're not going to get the best headphone quality out of a $20 unit, though.

seemed liek a good value; quality is decent but not spectacular; we'll see about batt life.

what kind of battery is is supposed to have charging logic for? nimh, ni cad or rechargable alkalines?

haha, thatd be funny if what you said was true for the ones who had a problem with volume. thanks for signing up just to let us know that.

I got mine--about @26 (after taxes and S&H). Nice. Plays CD-R and CD-RW.
Haven't tried: charging NiCad batteries--charges in 15 hours-- and connecting DC supply.

Doh!! Boy do I feel like a dope! I WAS putting the headphone in the line-out. Maybe I will keep this after all, thanks Carl!
