cd drive problems

When I try to use Roxio and Nero, they say that they don't recognize a driver for burning. The only way I can burn is through real player. Is it required that I reset my hd to get them (dvd/cd burner) to work?
 
new cd drive? may need recent release/updates for nero/roxio.

is the drive working in explorer? tell us your whole story so we can help you. without all the info its difficult to troubleshoot.
