I have a Dell GX 150 and it sometimes will not read a CD properly. If you open windows explorer after inserting the CD, you can open the D: drive, but none of the files are visible. However, if you open windows explorer before inserting a disk, then the disk loads properly. I have run all the Dell diagnostics on it and they work fine. The drive also works fine under DOS so I don't think it has anything to do with the actual drive. I think it has something to with the OS or other software. The problem existed before when Direct CD was installed, but after I removed it everything worked fine up until now. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Sounds like some shell extension program that plugs into your Win Explorer messed it up. Look for something like that in Add/Remove Programs and uninstall it. If that doesn't work, well, I hate to tell you - reinstall from the Dell CD? :p
