cd drive audio cables...

One is digital, one analog. Don't need either with anything but a really old setup. Just allow "digital output" in Device Manager for the drive. It will use the data cable for it.
 
They're the same thing in the sense that they connect two points by wire.

They just have the different end plugs to remind you if you plug a cable into the analog output of the drive, it must plug into the analog input of the sound card. Same with the digital connection.

But in reality, neither cable has any purpose anymore.
