CD copy protection?

Man, if there was a way of making completely protected CDs then companies like M$ wouldn't be losing millions each year...

Yes, there is a way to build something into a CD that keeps it from being copied, but not with the process we have available (burner). Many music and video companies are going to this to keep their products from being copied.

The reason someone like Microsoft doesn't do it is that they aren't worried as much about us copying their product as they are in us installing it on multiple computers . . . which doen't require duplication, but can't be done without allowing copying.

you need to wake up my friend, microsoft does try to copy protect quite a few of their games. most games out now are copy-protected, but with the correct hardware/software, you can still copy these copy protected games. so the answer to the original question i definately "no", sorry

like i said in the statement above, not if you have the correct hardware/software. many times you can copy through the copy protection, so your copy will be copy protected also. again, let me stress that you have to have the correct hardware/software, you can not do it with software like nero or roxio.
