CD Burning Software

Can anyone suggest any decent free CD burning software?

My fiiend was trying to burn a CD but he has Roxio 5 and it doesnt see his CD Drive. He also has Windows XP and I tried just "Write to Disc" from windows explorer and it goes through the wizard then comes up with please insert a blank disc.

I did download some CD bruning software real quick from download.com and it worked for what he needed at the time but I didnt take the time to look into the software and dont know if it is decent or not. I only know that it worked for what he needed at the time.

Alcohol 120 is not Free .. it has a 30 day Trial Period .. cost runs about $60 or so .. as to Roxio 5 .. that release had nothing but trouble
especially with Windows XP or if upgrading from Roxio 4 to Roxio 5 ... Roxio 6 & later works properly with Windows XP

Personally I use Nero 6.6 & also have Roxio 6 Platinum

This was suggested in the freeware thread at the top of the page but I have no experience though, may be worth a try.

another  for CDBurnerXPPro! I use it on both my laptop's CDRW and my Dell's DVDRW. Very good program that does what I want with no fuss.

Cheetah Burning software is free now with a promotion that you mention it twice on two different forums, and they mail you an unlock key. They did for me.
I really like the software.
