cd burning problem

i just got a nec-3550a dvd burner. my friend gave me a CD that has a movie file in it so that i can make a copy of it. when i try to copy it on the fly it gave me errors towards the end of the copying, so i try to make a copy using my other pc, and it burned without errors. so i now have two copies, the original and the new one. i put the new one in my computer and try to burn it and it was successful. so why is it that the original cd burns successfully with my other computer but not on this one, and mine can only copy off the newly burned one?? i'm thinkign that its not the burners problme because it worked fine for the new cd. any ideas

New DVD burners have a built-in feature that prevents pirates and terrorists from dupping movies.

then how come i was able to copy off the one i burnt from other computer

Because the other computer had removed the copy protection from the DVD, when it copied it.

"Video file" is not much of an answer, as there are myriad movie file types. You also keep saying it is a cd. Is that correct? There are a number of free apps that can crack encryption on dvds, but then you are commiting piracy with what you are doing. I would hope most people just use those apps for "fair use" situations.
