CD BURNER Question

I have Yamaha CD and a somewhat Generic 52X reader. Both are working "OK"
However when I try to BURN / Copy CD's it goes through this REALLY long TEST
procedure with the CD and then says It can't read from the device....

Any comments or Questions anybody can think of...

Currently the system does not have a sound card. Recently purchased another board and the replacement
board didn't have a built in...... Ooops.... I'm not into highend sound anyway.
