CD Burner Question: How do I...

I have tons of .mp3 that I'd like to put on a CD-R. I want to know if there's a way to get them on to the CD-R so that my CD-Player can play them.

You have to convert them to .wav first.

MusicMatch Jukebox will do this for you and copy to the CD-R.

Winamp has that capability, and it's faster than MusicMatch.

I use NTI CD-Maker 2000 Professional to burn audio CD's. It's a simple drag & drop process with transparent conversion from mp3 to wav format.

What program do you use to burn your CDs? I know some programs (Such as Adaptec Easy CD Creator version 4 and Nero) can take MP3 and burn it directly to CD audio on the fly. I suggest using Nero for this, as I've found Adaptec to be slightly buggy in this area.

Really? Nero does all this? Hmm...Can I just drag and drop? How exactly would I go about doing this? I really like Nero.

Also, can CD-RWs not be played on CD players? Either way...I love CD burners...I'm lovin it!!!

Yeah, just select audio cd in nero. Then drag and drop the mp3's. They will be changed to wav files and then burnt to the cd, be careful though cause the default setting in nero in this mode is to finalize the cd. Make sure you leave the cd open if you want to add files later. (although they won't play in a reg player til finalized)
As for a CD-RW, they will play in some cd players, most that work say cd-rw compatible on them. They came out about a year ago, although even lower end players now can play cd-rws.

I rip with EZCD 4.02E and Burn with NERO, nero is just sweet. MS should hire people from Nero.

SuperGroove, here's how you get Winamp to convert mp3 to wav:

1) Launch Winamp
2) Go to Options, Preferences, select "Output" under the "Plug-ins" group
3) Make a mental note of which Output Plugin is selected in the right hand pane (Waveout, DirectSound, etc... NOTE: it?s usually ?Nullsoft waveOut plug in&quot
4) Select "Nullsoft Disk Writer Plugin..." in the right hand pane
5) Click Configure (and select the directory where you would like the *.wav saved)
6) Click the "Close" button
7) Double click the mp3(s) you want to decode to *.wav (you won't hear anything and the EQ Graph will bump along until Winamp has processed and saved the entired *.wav)
8) Be sure to change the Output Plugin back to waveout or whatever you noted mentally before or you will keep decoding and saving wav files everytime you play something.

Using Winamp is just too much trouble. I myself just use Plextor Manager 2K to burn mp3 to cd's.

MusicMan Jukebox is not slow at all ! On my ten speed 650e machine setting the cache to 32megs and burner to max it only takes a few minutes. The trick is if you have the registered version (like me) you can go max if you don't it defualts to 2x.

You get what you pay for. It is also the top rated program as per PC magazine and I concur. I have yet to rip a bad CD.

It also has nice drag and drop and converts to wave/CDa with one button.

I use Adaptec EZ CD creator 4.02x. It recoreds MP3's without any need of conversion up front. Never had a problem with it, and it's easy to use. Anybody ever use Hotburn for anything? Is that any good?
