CD-Burner problem?

Hi guys. I got a Lite-On 16x10x40 16102B, and it came with Nero. I decided to use Fireburner instead, because it can burn .cue files. However, in the past couple days it's gotten a bit weird - as in I'll load a cue file, set it to burn, the drive will spin up, but then the light turns to yellow, my harddrive LED goes on, and I can't do anything on my computer - even ALT-CRTL-DELing Nero doesn't spin my harddrive down (I have to restart). I used Nero, and it worked fine to copy a few cds etc. But I still can't burn cues! Is the Nero software proprietary? Can I use a different program? Thanks!

perhaps bad software? you can use cdrwin for cues. i think, or clone cd

Could you please include you system specs?
I had the same problem with EZCD Creator 5, (just burning backup files to disc, or ISOs)
but I also had this happen with Fireburner. It got so bad that I gave up Fireburner for CDRWin, and STILL have the same problem.
My problem is that the first disc will burn fine, but if I don't reboot before loading a second CD-R my system ALWAYS locks-up, and I have to hot the power button to shut it off. Might be some conflict somewhere.
I've looked high and low for some help with this issue.
