Starting Sunday, Apr 24, OfficeMax is advertising the HP 52X32X52 CD-RW internal drive for $9 after $30 MIR. Sku is 2086-6350. Not finding this online so it may be in-store only. You might want to check your local store to see if it's in stock. The ad is available for viewing at the OfficeMax site.
 
also...there is a staples 10 off 20 coupon online/instore. if ur OM takes the coupon like it should this will be -$1 🙂
 
Why wait till sunday? Get one now if you want. It has been priced at $39.00 - $30 rebate for 2 weeks now....I bought one 11 days ago.
 
I was in OM on wednesday, and they had these marked down AR already.

They had about 6 of them out on the clearance table at the Tacoma Mall, WA location

Search the HD forum for staples, you'll find it. It's a game you play for 2 or 3 minutes, then the coupon pops up.

I didn't know it was a rebate.

I stopped by last night to grab one with the intent of getting the price adjusted to the "Sale" price I thought started today.

This beats the no-name burner in speed and quality I got from OM a year or two back for $5.

mine is . . . i think so.

Pretty good deal . . . got mine today. . . . i needed Nero 6.X [included] and figured i could upgrade my "old" TDK 48x for $10 .. . . it's R-W speed is pretty slow and my old one can always go in a friend's build.

The best CD reWriter deal i ever got was here - also a HP [12x] for $10 after MIR - a couple of years ago. It came with two or three months of unlimited mp3 d/loads from e-music. . . . . i musta got at least 150 full CDs (i haven't completely listened to them all as yet - almost)

HP dosnt make the drives. These are liteon drives which are awsome.

I don't use cd anymore ever since the invention of dvd
actually i'd threw away some 200+ cd after converting them to DVD format
from 200 to less then 30 dvd
AWESOME

I'm looking forward to DVD-DL, actually no twice the space would not make sense
Blue-Ray would be perfect but looks like another year or so before it is released then another 3 years before it becomes a standard like dvd.. hell HD-DVD is the next best thing since cd was invented

actually lite-on was troublesome in the beginning (from what i remember, admittedly very little 🙂)
hp used them for their 12x and 16c cdrw also
i never saw a sealed box at office depot, just returns
but search for the $99 12x iomega plextor from compusa thread...

I tried the Staples $10 off $20 coupon at two OfficeMaxs and was shot down both times. They would accept a Staples coupon except for the part about it's having to apply to Staples items only--they said it would only apply to OfficeMax brand stuff. (Got some Staples CD-RW's, tape, and letter trays with one that I downloaded via a FatWallet link a couple days back.)

I did decide to get the HP (allegedly Lite-On) drive. If I can get the rebate, it will be a steal. Otherwise it's a rip-off. Can't ever have enough decent CD-RW drives for $12 round trip ($9 after rebate plus sales tax plus $0.50 for stamps and an envelop). It would be nice to have an extra for when my current CD-RW dies or for when I build another computer. (It's a "Micro Advantage" 52x-32x-52x drive that I got from OfficeMax last year, also for $40 - $30 rebate. I did get the rebate. Turned out to be a BTC Technologies drive, which is allegedly junky, but it's performed well so far.)
