CD Bruner problems

i have had my Liteon CD burner for aboiut 2-3 years. and for the past few weeks i have been backing up my movie collection to my cd to save space from hard drive. while i was doing this my CDs ran out. so i went out and bought more CDs but this time its a different brand then i nomrally use (new ones are memorex the original one that i use was verbatim). i go home and continue burning it burns successfully on the memorex and i decided to try it out. but when i put it in the movie couldn't play and says something about needing more codecs, my verbatim cds never gave me thsi problem. i also notice that the memorex will not have problems if i slow the burner down to 32x. do you guys think my burner could be breaking down or is it cds

its the media, I always use memorex and I never burn at the fastest setting for my burner....if you burn at 16-24X they will be fine. I dont care what they are rated for as far as max speed...i found out it takes just as long to burn at 24X as it does 52X.....

it shouldn't give u a codec error if the discs are busted bad burns. it should give a read error. codec error means you just do'nt have needs to be installed to play the movie in question

exactly, i had the same problem, and slowing down the burn took care of it....it dont sound right, i know, but it works, and you cant argue with success.....no matter how silly it seems..
