CD auto insert not working

I haven't installed any software recently except SoundForge 5.0.

I'm using winME and a Ricoh 8/8/32 burner as my only cd drive. I just noticed the auto insert had stopped working, apparantly for no reason. Auto Insert notification is checked in device manager. It had worked b4, but just stopped working. It reads cd's fine, just no AIN.

any ideas?

Uncheck it, reboot, and then check it again and reboot. If that doesn't fix it, go into registry and look at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom\Autorun 0 - if this value is zero, as per this example, autorun is off. Edit the value to a decimal one, which turns it on.

What Obenton said, and if that dosn't work, then you have 2 programs trying to open the cd..... you will need to set properties for the control over it.

turning off, then on AIN didn't work.

And there isn't a folder of
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom
in my registry. What to do?
