It depends on what type of drive you have. If you have a cheapy one then most likely the extraction speed will not be very good. Some drives are just really good at ripping cd's. The drive I am using is an old Plextor 12x10x32 scsi drive(from 2000) and it rips cd's pretty well. cd extraction is usually in 16x-32x range(from the start of the disc to the end of the disc). So it just depends on the drive really.

Liteon cdrom and dvdrom drives are particularly good at cd audio extraction. I think i could classify them as cheapie drives.
Link to cd/dvd rom speed test results check the link I think you will see that the very inexpensive liteons are among the fastest at DAE.
