Threatening someone's family, however, makes you a a heartless monster AND a dirty disgusting coward.

Threatening?

No its called wishful thinking moron. If you aren't willing to see a family member in the same situation as the victim (whom had to use deadly force) and you are not willing to condemn them for defending themselves then you are hypocrite.

Again I hope your mother ends up in a similar situation as the driver who had to use deadly force. Then lets see you call her a coward if she decides to defend herself using deadly force because she fears for her life.

Define valid. That's the problem with it. The incident was this summer, July or August, somewhere in Massachusetts. Guy A tailgates B. B pulls over to let him pass. A pulls in behind him, gets out of his car and heads towards B. B steps out and reveals his pistol. A gets back in his car, calls police, and tails B until the cops pull him over. So B ends up in trouble... for what? There's the problem.

Ok, that is a bit more of a gray area, and not the black/white situation I had assumed after reading your post. Arguably B should have called the police once A stopped on the side of the road. Unfortunately while B could have seen the situation as threatening, and it probably was, I'm guessing he wasn't legally justified in pulling out his gun until A actually made a verbal threat or a move to hurt B. If I were to guess I'd say that B got into trouble because he had to option to drive away once A was out of the car, even though that could increase the danger as A might have been inclined to start tailgating again. In this situation all A would need to tell the cops is "I just wanted to tell him his lights were out/his license plate is falling off/*other semi-plausible excuse here*" and B looks like the bad guy. My guess is that had B remained in the car and waited for A to come up and start making threats before drawing his firearm the situation would have gone over differently. My take on this situation is that while B probably drew his firearm earlier than he should have, he probably did feel threatened and only deserved a warning along the lines of "Next time make sure he's actually threatening you before you do anything".

In response to your threats to my family

Well I see you used your real name - ****. I should eventually be able to find you with only this information. Unless you'd like to arrange to meet that is? Where do you live?

Go ahead but I must warn you I have family members invovled in law enforcement not to mention I am a staunch pro-gun owner. This bullshit threat of yours will be linked and forwarded to my family members who will contact anadtech (who will not doubt hand over your ip and ISP info which will lead to a subpoena toward your ISP and your eventually personal information.) if you pull some bullshit stunt. Remember you are not anoymous on the internet either.

I'm not the one making threats - you are - and I have every right to respond. I see you are now threatening to shoot me?

"I must warn you ... I am a staunch pro-gun owner"

Why are you so obsessed with violence? Why would you theaten a stranger and his family?

Also, PMs are private, and you should not post them on the main forum.

Its not a threat.

Again learn to distinguish between a threat and wishful thinking. Hoping that you are put in a similar situation as the person you are calling a coward because he defended himself from a aggressive and regressive moron is actually wishing that you get a taste of that high and mighty medicine you doll out.

PM's aren't private when you make threats which you did and when there is a record of it on Anandtech servers.

Why do you assume that gun owners are all "obsessed with violence"?

You are the one who stated that you would track him down. Sounds like you are the unstable one here and because of this, he is simply warning you that he is willing to defend himself and his family against unstable people like you.

All I 'threatened' to do is find out who you are. This is fully legitimate as you have clearly threatened my family. If you don't think there's anything wrong with what you wrote maybe you should ask some of these people you know in law enforcement.

I don't 0_o

I enjoy shooting (targets) but I don't own a firearm due to the laws in this country. I'd like to own a rifle someday.

It's this noob who is obsessed with violence.

You are the one who stated that you would track him down.

He said he wants to give my mother a beating to the face ffs!

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit.

Hoping, or wishing for something is not a threat. Its a feeling of wanting something to pass but not really taking any significant actions to actually see it happen.

I hope to win a 100 million dollars. <---- It does not mean that I will win money or I am going to entire any cash contests or rob a bank.

If you went up to a man on the street and said 'I hope your mother gets a beating to the face' there would be hell to pay. Do you think it's okay just because it's on the internet? I mean people on this forum say some nasty shit but this is just way too much for me.

If that man was condemning another man for defending his life then I would absolutely tell him that "I hope" that he or his family members would face a similar situation in life so that he gets a taste of what it is like to have some nutcase smashing their (or loved ones) driver side window in a attempt to cause bodily harm.

To bring this thread back on track, not using your signal light or saying something "rude" is not grounds or justification for physically assaulting another person.

Those who do belive so should grow the hell up and grow a thicker skin in life. If they can not or will not and end up getting shot by their intended victim who fears for their life then they learned a life lesson the hard way.

Yes, it IS okay because it's the internet. Now if you can't take it, get off the internet, it's obviously not for sensitive people.

Oh, and I Hope you and your entire family is subjected to lots of misfortune, pain, suffering, and general misery.

Also, your emotional arguments are hilarious. Why would anyone let name calling get in the way of defending themselves? If they do, they deserve to get whatever punishment is coming.

No, he didnt, and you need to go back to first grade if that's the level of comprehension you have. My six year old son could read what he wrote and understand what he said.

I'm guessing you're the type who says after a girl gets raped, "She had it coming to her because she had on a skimpy dress."

I guess you think it's alright to cut someone off and cause and accident and it's their fault for being in your way.

The story linked by the OP only says that he cut him off; there was no mention of an accident. Unless you were actually there, please keep your imagination in check and stick to the facts.

Obviously that's not ok, but that doesn't give you the right to get out of your car, break through their window, and pull them out of their car. I spend roughly 3 hours a day in traffic and trust me, I hate those assholes just as much as anyone else, but I've never once seriously thought about getting out of my car and fighting them. If you pull someone out of their car then you need to be prepared to face the consequences.
