In the land ruined by Democrats is this guy safe from charges though? He did the right thing but that may not keep him out of a bunch of trouble or even jail depending upon where incident took place.

Meh, the ideal scenario is reversed. In a perfect world, cutting someone off would be a capital offense.

Self defense is no excuse for bad manners.

If you're one of those morons that goes nuts over some inane traffic event, expect to get shot.

Of course, I'm not. But if you're one of those people who thinks that an anonymous 2 ton cage of steel gives you a free license to be an asshole, I wish you only the worst of karmas.

Bad manners is not excuse to resort to violence, which the guy who got shot resorted to in the first place. If you try to pull me out of my car for ANY reason you should expect to be shot on the spot.

There's times you need to get over a lane, you put your turn signal on, but you have a jerk in the other lane that won't let you in. You have no choice but to speed up a bit or slow down if you can and get over into the other lane. Sometimes cutting someone off is your only option if they won't let you in. Granted in a perfect world the person would slow down or speed up to let you make the lane change, but we don't have a perfect world.

You're assuming he put his turn signal on. Most drivers don't do that even when they have plenty of time. :)

Well, the shooter is a douchebag in regards to how he drives, but the dude who got shot got what he deserved for assaulting someone.

While I do not excuse the actions here is any way, I must disagree with the first statement absolutely. Bad manners is the BEST excuse to resort to violence.

And if you happen to think I'm anti-gun rights, you'd be mistaken. I just think that taking responsibility for your actions begins with being courteous in the first place. In particular when you're piloting 2 tons of steel on the road at 100 feet per second.

So the man was being assaulted and defended himself.
Sounds justifiable to me.

Naturally, the NRA will offer this as an example of how handguns help law-abiding citizens protect themselves.

But did it occur to anybody to ask: When the soon-to-be victim knocked on the window of the soon-to-be shooter, why on earth did the shooter open the window or door?

No way in hell would anyone be able to pull ME out of my car: My doors would be locked and my windows should be closed. And one fewer person would be in critical condition in a hospital with gunshot wounds.

But, hey, the NRA will still count this as "successful self-defense."

The victim got out of his car, knocked out the other driver's window and began to pull the man out of the vehicle.
Yikes... I keep my doors locked, but I suppose someone could break the window if my vehicle was disabled / immovable. I really need to start carrying pepper spray.

Personally, I recommend a gun.

Who assaulted who first?

If you read the article, the thug in the other car got out at a stop light, and attacked the other man through his window. The man being attacked defended himself. Case closed.

0 reading comprehension i see. There was no KNOCKING on the window. The road raging soon-to-be-shot moron busted the window in and then tried to pull the other guy out.
