CCW holder stops man from stabbing spree

crazy people are fucking crazy.

oh and  to the guy that stopped him. we need more people with common sense having a CCW. I really really wish IL had it.

I'm looking to buy either a Glock 17 or Glock 19, thoughts?

There has been an extensive thread about this already. Look it up. But to recap, glock 27 or M&P 9c. And if you have zero exp with handguns, then maybe start with a Ruger SR22 for cheap practice.

Then, before the suspect could find another victim - a citizen with a gun stopped the madness. "A guy pulled gun on him and told him to drop his weapon or he would shoot him. So, he dropped his weapon and the people from Smith's grabbed him."
If the suspect simply dropped the knife and ran, it would have been illegal to shoot him - right?

In essence, there's no legal way to detain him unless he wishes to be detained. Only the threat of an illegal action, shooting him, stopped him.

the same thought comes up in my mind everytime someone wants gun freedom. Right now the %s of CCW are low and it's a happy medium in my mind. If there's CCW freedom everywhere the %s obviously become higher and the stigma against having them drops - more people start to carry. If there's a dude opening fire in a dark theater, what happens when 5 others start opening fire in the dark theater. Who's an accomplice and who's not? Wasn't 1 person causing enough chaos?

You don't trust a fellow driver to handle their vehicle correctly despite having a license (HOW MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE WE HAD ABOUT THAT?) - now you're ok with multiple others making life or death decisions right beside you? Fuck that, keep the spontaneous humans with instant death rays to a minimum please.

I totally agree with you. I'm willing to bet that every single person in that theater was thankful that there was only one person with a gun in that theater, and that it was the person trying to murder them.

I'm surprised the gun holder didn't jump at the chance to take a life. He could have lived the Amerrcun dream.

only if your name is spidey..and they are black..in a hoodie..with skittles.

otherwise most NEVER want to take a life but are prepared to do so to save themselves or someone else.

I'm okay with the opportunity to defend myself.

It's not that I don't see this as a good reason, but if only this was the only possible reason a CCW would draw on someone with a gun pointed only at them and they know they're about to shoot. If 5 people start shooting in that theater, why did the other 4 start shooting? Are they accomplices? At what point do you draw to "protect yourself"? People are talking about taking him out before he does more damage... is that protecting yourself? What about his accomplices (or not) also firing? Do you trust your fellow man to make decisions under stress of such a situation they've never experienced before? Do you want all these bullets flying back and forth when all you're doing is trying to get your kid outta there? Maybe you had a gun drawn ready to protect yourself and your kid. Someone else sees you've got a gun pulling a kid around. What are people to think? Maybe another CCW shoots you then.

Also, the one problem with "everybody has guns so no criminal will act" is that you'll never know who the bad guys actually are when something does happen. Oh and there's that other thing about the commoner on the street being both judge and jury. Really? After all the arguments in the history of the internet, you people don't mind this?

You don't carry if you are a moron basically. You don't fire if you don't have a clear shot even in a theatre. You are liable for bystanders you hit AFAIK, if there's multiple weapons drawn then GTFO I doubt anyone would stick around for that or draw themselves.

I'm kind of sick of the "what if omg!?" stuff. What if your fingers are buttery with popcorn? What if the buttons on your phone aren't big enough to hit 911 in a stressful situation? We shall mandate all phones have 1square inch buttons so the elderly can call 911 in stressful situations.

Stress always enhances my ability to asses a situation not inhibit it, so maybe thats the difference with some of these people I dunno. If someone gets stressed out to the point where they don't know whats going on no one would just take out their CCW and fire randomly I don't know where you get ideas like that.

Ugh, P&N please. OT is just becoming a fucking gun-nut vs. anti-gun-nut cesspool.

From the decisions that your peers around you make everyday. That's where. Mr. Holmes qualifies for a CCW.

Of course what-ifs need to be assessed. You cannot deny the chaos that will ensue - we are talking about life and death. Everything that has become law was THOUGHT THROUGH, and weighted, was it not? O M G.

Ok, i'm done with my say... I hate P&N topics, and religion. I just wanted to see if anyone shared those thoughts because it's plain as day to me.
