I just picked up a PIII700 cco stepping from www.upgradeplanet.com. they have one of the lowest prices on the web, shipping will be about ten bux. I got mine up to 980. No promises that you will get a cco, but my friend also ordered and also got one.

If you live in Los Angeles Area, actually you can get PIII 700 with retail box cheaper than upgradeplanet.com. Just go to computer fair. I get my PIII 700 retail box(cB0 steppinng running @933) for $169 including tax and I think now you can get cheaper( with cC0 stepping). To find the info about computer fair in the LA area just go to:LA Computer Fair website

I got a 700 cB0 back in August for about 172. Doesn't seem prices are dropping too much on Intel stuff.

STAY AWAY from UPGRADEPLANET.

I just bought a p3 700 and 800 for systems I am building for family. The p3 800 no problem, the 700 would do nothing. I called got an RMA and they cross-shipped the replacement by charging my credit card for a new one, saying they would refund it when they received the faulty one.

Well, now they have the broken one and WILL NOT refund my money.

I have talked to the rep, manager(Chief of Operations), and I'm waiting to talk to the CEO. But was told not to expect anything.

So this sucks, either I have to charge my aunt another $153 for the bad processor(which I can't do) or I have to take it in the a$$.

Any suggestions?

Also talk to your local paper(s) and tv stations, enough poeple inquiring about it and they will give you the money back or get LOTS of bad publicity.

If you paid with credit card, dispute it or see if you have a product warranty extension. Disputing it would probably get you the best results, because the cc companies generally side with the consumer.

Here's another bad mark against upgradeplanet. Ordered a P3/700 and got a cB0, mid-2000 chip. Don't mind getting a cB0... but, it was obviously used. The chip had scratches. Called them up and they said it might have been a return, but was still guaranteed. Not sure what to do. It's running fine and temps seem alright, but I'm worried about it for the long run. Not sure if it's worth the hassle to do a return/exchange thing.

Don't ever take it in the shorts from any company, especially some small, crappy company like upgradeplanet.com

Dispute the charge...I think you 51 days to dispute the charge...if you paid with CC and can prove you don't have the device (i.e. a tracking number/delivery confirmation for your RMA) your guaranteed that you won't have to pay the charge and your CC will raise hell with them for bad business practices.

We as the consumers have a lot of financial rights that we do not exercise...call your CC and to dispute the charge. If you paid with AMEX then upgradeplanet.com will really be crapping bricks...I talked with someone who used to handle CS claims like this for AMEX and she said AMEX actually gets pissed and will file complaints w/ the Better Business Bureau, perform "random" audits of this company, and may even file charges of fraud against the company in some instances.

I like AMEX because businesses don't...and from the sutff above they have good reason. AMEX is customer centered...their customers are right until proven wrong. Mastercard seems to be getting better too... but I don't know.

Hope everthing turns out well for you!

I have heard some good things about the way American Express really goes to bat for the consumer. Seems to be the best card.

Too bad I can't get one cuz I'm a student who doesn't make $10k a year. Yes, I know I can get a student card, but that one is crap... BTW, I have VERY good credit considering I've had a card since I was 17 in my own name, and have never made a late payment...

Credulus: Ha. I'm a student barely making $4k a year. Darn part-time jobs. Oh well. At least those loan companies won't be after me for another few years. :) I don't trust myself with a credit card though. I got debit card for all online ordering (can dispute though since it's through Visa!).
