CCNP updates

I'm starting on the CCNP track by studying BSCI, but I heard that Cisco is updating this cert soon. Have any of you heard anything about this, and should I wait before I start making plans to take tests?

Podolak probably asked you to make sure your CCNA doesn't expire before you pass a CCNP exam.

One quick question about the CCNA
I know it is good for only 2 years initially .. right ? ?

What happens what that time is up ? ?
Do you have to retake the Entire Cert Test ? ?
Or just a refresher and a few questions to recertify ? ?

Thanks

CCNAs are good for 3 years, not 2 years.
You'll need to either retake the CCNA exam(s), or pass a CCNP exam to ger recertified.
For details, check Cisco's website.

That's good to know about the CCNA
I thought they were only 2 years
How long is a CCNP good for ? ?

Thanks

You only have to take the written to re-cert CCIE.

And I believe the first one actually good for three years, as long as you attempt the Lab within two years or eighteen months ... something like that.

FWIW

ccie is only good for two years, have to retest.

2 yrs?? that seems awfully short for such a hard cert.

they want to make sure you stay current. However the requirement to take at least one week of training in that period is over I believe.

It's just the written you have to take to re-cert. And if you've got multiple CCIEs, you can take any of the written tests for each discipline and it re-certs them all.
