I was doing some research on the Cisco's learning website, and I happened to come across some information that should be of interest to people who need to take the TSHOOT exam. If you go here https://learningnetwork.cisco.com/docs/DOC-6738 , you can get the topology for the TSHOOT exam. It even says on the website "Before attempting the TSHOOT exam, please familiarize yourself with the TSHOOT network topologies and exam instructions. These are the network topologies that you will be tested on." Plus they have a tutorial so you can get a feel for the exam.

I just did that test. Great fun. Took a bit longer than it should maybe. I guess I'm rusty, I haven't touched a real router config in almost a decade. How fast are you supposed to solve those 4 problems in the example ? The first one was real slow, but once I got the hang ("hey, they made typos in the config, that's why it isn't working. :p), the last 3 went a bit quicker.

I didn't understand the comments lower in this thread, about the real test. Is the form different ? Is it not a flash application, where you can look at all config and simulate ping and tr ? It even says the network in the real test is the same as the one in this example ?? Or are the questions just a lot more tricky ?
Just curious.

Diagnosing exactly where the problem is and what technology is causing the problem is something that hasn't been seen before in CCNP exams... not even with the old Cisco Internetwork Troubleshooting (CIT) exam (two versions ago, I believe).

Yes, it's a flash-based router sim, but the structure of the exam is completely different from what has been seen with other CCNP exams in the past. On other Cisco exams, the router sims are used to either a) answer a few questions on the same config (simlets) or b) configure a device to particular specifications (sims). For these 12 trouble tickets, the questions are the same for each trouble ticket. While that sounds like it would be easier, it really isn't, because the configuration differences between the tickets are very small - you have to really look for the "needle in the haystack". And if you don't know what you're looking for, you'll often have a hard time finding it. With other Cisco exams, you don't have ten or so different devices that could be causing the problem.

The topology on the Cisco demo is not the same as the real test.

You should still be knocking down the solutions in 10-15 mins tops.

The real exam is 4-5 multiple choice/drag and drops + 13 troubleshoot tickets in 135 mins.
