OKok. So I signed up for a certain electronic service which was billed by CCBILL.com. I signed up for a $1 trial. I saw the one dollar charge on my account and i was fine with it. But later, i was charged 39.95, for a recurring monthly charge. I checked the sign-up page, and there was some very shady fineprint telling about this but it was worded so obscurley, the rep from CCBILL.com had to explain it to me.

So, i tried to get them to refund the charge; i had only used the service on the first day, and then never even opened it up again. The rep flatout refused so i asked to speak with his supervisor, and he refused as well, claiming that i had agreed to the terms, and if i didn't udnerstand something i shouldnt have accepted them. I threatned to file a chrageback, and he basically said go ahead.

I filled out the Affifavit for a chargeback with my CC Company today and will send it in on Monday.

Just warning, don't deal with CCBILL, the are very shady characters.

Did i do the right thing?

True. I did the same ignorant thing a while back and it was $49.95.

Got the charge reversed but never again.

You have to read the fine print. It looks like they can legally charge you that amount. I imagine how they got you was an automatic renewal setup. You have to manually cancel the service in order not to be charged.

CCBill handles lots of pr0n payments. I must admit to paying once , cancelling was never a problem.
Yoy need to go to their website and cancel manually.

Yet another place where a single-use CC number would have saved a lot of trouble...

1 time use cc's :)

They have that Platinum Select Dividends card too. Have you seen that? 5% cash back on gas, groceries, drug stores, 1% on all other purchases. I had a plain Platinum Select and they switched me over no problem. I think that is the best cash back plan I have seen so far. Click for free ipods! God, I feel like an advertisement.

Actually I use my Citibank Virtual Numbers all the time but they made a mistake one time.
I made one for $30 limit.
Was charged for $29.95 from CCbill.
The month ended and 5 days passed...no problem.
Then I see a $29.95 charge again on the same virtual account numbers...but this time its from paycom(the other major service).
Anyway, I got my $29.92 taken off but I never investigated why there was a malfunction with the virtual number.

Ditto.

DID you 'cancel' it yourself?

They always work out like the way you did. You sign up for a trial and they WILL charge a month IF YOU DO NOT CANCEL. Some people unfortunately forget and they get stung :(.

If you cancel you can still use it until your time runs out but after you won't be charged.

One plus for using CC is that most gives you protection.
There was this $9.95 recurring charge.
Basically, at the beginning of the cycle when I was charged the $9.95, I called right away and said I liked to cancel and if I can get a refund.
They basically told me NO. I said fine, I'll have my CC take it off for me.

I called the CC and filed a chargeback and told them this:
"I'm paying for a service and I canceled it right at the beginning of the cycle so I shouldn't be charge or be entitled to the refund. As a long-time customer, when I'm using my CC, I should have that type of protection."

You know most CC gives you the protection of being able to return something in the case the place of business won't let you.
Paying for a service is no difference. If I haven't use that service at all and its at the beginning of that cycle, why shouldn't I be entitled to a refund.

Of course that $9.95 was taken off.

Your cc was used, whaddya they gonna do, check your fingerprints?

if they do check the IP or such, does that prove you typed it?

If they do prove you use that computer becuase there are fingerprints on the keyboard, does that mean they are from that purchese?

is all this trouble worth 40 bux for them?

I think it would not be worth teh $0 dollars.

Next time i will DEF use a virtual card from PayPal (lol this was on my PayPal debit card anyway, shoulda just done the damn virtual #)

Anyway, as i said, im sending in the Affidavit on Monday Dec 27.

I bassically wrote on it that i signed up for a trial service for $1, and that was then, against my consnet charged an additional $40 recuring charge. I stated that i called CCBILL.com, even spoke with a manager, and they refused to do anything about it. They did ironically "explain" the maening of the gay @ss fineprint. So i stated that because of the misleading nature of the fienprint, i was caused to be chraged the extra money.

My chances are pretty good i will get the refund right?

The card is issued through bankone.

Thanks all,

The same thing happened to me with Discover card. My "single use" number was charged again a week later.

It doesn't matter one way or the other, i never signed a legal document, i pressed an "accept" button.

There are no grounds to force me to pay this paytmetn
