So I get a store CC statement yesterday and see that the due date for payment was the 12th of September, making the payment a week late, but I only got the statement yesterday. I plan to pay it today but what will this do to my credit score if anything?

This is the first statement I have recieved with this card, but I have had my other CC for over a year?

EDIT: The part that really pisses me off is when i tried to sign up to pay online last night It said that I had to be verified and to print a form and send it in, or I can call customer support and make a payment for a $10 fee, but they don't open till 9am.:|

call the company and talk to a rep and explain your situation. talk to managers if necessary. when was the bill postmarked?

that sucks, you don't really have any way to prove it got there late, eh?
i would still call them and talk to them about it. chances are, they will waive the fee, but the late payment will be on your record.

I had this happen to me once, it never showed up on my credit report. I immediately paid the entire card off in full (even the charges that would appear on the next month's bill) because I wasn't sure what I'd be charged interest on.

If you call them, they may give you some leeway. I don't remember what they told me when I called, but I know I ended up paying the late fees/interest.

Edit: It may go on your record with the CC company, but I don't think they report it to the credit agencies until it happens several times. Like I said, my accounts all say "good standing" on my credit report.

Anything under 30 days late will not report, so relax - There is no long term damage.

They'll probably try to smack you with a fee, but you can sometimes get them to waive it on a first offense.

They may also jack your rate and/or decrease your credit limit. Just pay in full and sockdrawer it if that happens, you can always get a new card.

If you are worried, I would call them and make sure you are fully paid for the billing period including any late fees.

I don't think places report anything unless the payment is over 30 days late, however. But I could be wrong.

it won't get reported to the credit bureaus until it is more than 30 days late...

however, alot of CC companies now will raise your interest rate if they find out you are late on another account (i.e, your Citibank Visa will raise the interest rate on that account if you are late on your Chase Mastercard)...

wonder how they find out you are a few days late if only items that are 30 day late or more get reported? mmmmm...
