CC company changed my due date!

This just ain't right!

My bill has always been due the first of the month. So I automatically have the bill paid on the 29th of the month. (had problems before where if I paid too early it wouldn't hit the correct billing cycle, bastages)

Review this months statement (billing cycle 8/04 - 9/02) and there is a 40 dollar late fee! Turns out they changed the due date to the 28th of the month and my payment was due on 8/28!

WTF!

<---gets on horn to MBNA, if this affects any promotional rates with other cards I'm gonna go balistic.

Checked other statements and indeed the due date was changed from the first or second to 28th.

They'll refund it, and no other company will ever know anything happened.

one would think so, but technically I am late. and they way card companies are now adays all the rates on my cards could change.

Yep if you look on your cc statement it shows the due date, which you missed.

I'd be more concerned about losing a promotional APR % rather than a $40 late fee.

that's what I'm concerned about as well (and not with just this one card, all of them). I've been using free money for a while now. zero APR.

It wont affect your other cards, theyll never even know about it, it wont show as late on your credit report if it's only 2-3 days.

I understand. But if you read the fine print on credit cards, being late on one can change the rate on all of them.

Yes, its only one late payment and won't affect my credit score. But it does have the possbility of screwing with my promotional rates which of the 4 cards I have they are all 0 for the balances and under 10 for purchases.

those could go to 12 or some ridiculous 24% in a heartbeat.

what's the company?
One of the credit card companies we had in the past had some dubious practices like that... they are currently under a class-action lawsuit over their practices..

But, call the company and discuss it with them. They should drop the fee, and they should not change the rate.. If they tell you there's nothing they can do about the rate going up, but will drop the $40, tell them you are going to file a complaint about their company.

My point was if they don't report it, how would the other companies know?

Anyways, Ive never seen it say if your late on another companies card they will kill the promo APR.

Less than 30 days late isn't even reported, but obviously they know about it.

If you have a history of good payment habits I'd bitch at them until they fix it.

As a sidenote, you need to keep better tabs on your finances. I know it's easy to just let it happen, but if you check it frequently you don't get surprised.
