I don't put much stock in the credibility of Ken Starr. He's probably saying that to save his ass from being burned by Rove.

Bush can do it,
Cheney can do it,
Rice can do it,
Rumsfield can do it,
and the list goes on and on...

So why not?

I don't think that the people posting here even understand the issue at hand...

Purposeful misrepresentation of the news is terribly unethical. Twisting ones words for your own gain is pretty close to being illegal. I would like to see Star take CBS to court for slander.

If this is true in the context that blog (heh) portrays it in, then I would agree with you. That's a potentially big "if" though. Who knows.

If he can prove it. I wouldn't be surprised one iota if he made up that "out of context". We'd have to see the full, unedited video of the interview.

There is no "if" - Starr seems to have sent out an email correcting the misinformation that cBS tried to put out with their cleverly edited clips. I remember reading about a few people railing against Starr earlier this week after that clip aired - word must have gotten to him and he then corrected the info.

cBS should be ashamed of itself for once again airing purposefully dishonest journalism.

BTW -to all you "intellectuals" who want to whine about the source - please show where that information is incorrect. If it wasn't for places like Powerline and others - cBS might not have been caught the first time. But hey, if you think these people made up this email from Starr - so be it. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me since your types seem to believe everything is a conspiracy anyway...

 Ofcourse cBS won't provide the full interview, will it? So as usual conjur will think it's all made up.

So sad what you've let yourself become...

I can't really come to any conclusion based on his testimony alone. I'd have to see the unedited interview and then watch the clips they took. Like conjur said...

ofcourse we need to see the unedited interview, but it's unlikely to happen considering who has possession of it;)

Oh, and btw I think my link contains a link to the cBS clip.

Wow. Both Ken Starr and Gonzales both back-peddling and clarifying their original quotes to be more "pro-Bush" this week. Who'da thunk it?!?

So Bush should be sent to prison for paying "journalists" to shape his "News"?

You ever think that's because the people reporting these quotes are misrepresenting them and/or taking them out of context? Nah....

This is nothing new, pretty soon these news organizations will be nothing but official mouth pieces for the democratic party.

I would rather it is sooner than later. This will allow the avg joe to understand where these people are coming from. But maybe they already do, the ratings on the big three are continuing to fall.

I would offer THIS as a rebuttal for CsG and the flock that believe that only media sources that they have been instructed to criticize use creative editing and outright bias exist.

Right, more hypocritical whining from the right as usual. Their foaming at the mouth over CBS is amusing in light of the myriad of news sources that are so clearly biased and misinformed. CBS is clearly not alone when it comes to spinning the facts, and neither is this solely a "liberal media" issue.

Good. That is better than being unofficial mouthpieces for the Bush administration. At least we will know their bias.

OMG! Medved got punked H-A-R-D!

Anytime, and I mean ANYTIME, you put facts before one of these lunatic right-wing bastard radio hosts, they fold like a cheap tent. They can't help it, they're driven by bumper-sticker slogans and one-liners. They have no intellect and people with facts like this caller had, should keep punking these bastards over and over and over again.

I don't recall saying criminal.

Until you understand the basics of the law (civil vs. criminal) I won't expect you to understand any of this.

 Sure try the old "but others do it" duhversion. cBS is atleast guilty of sloppy journalism but at worst is guilty of purposefully misleading it's viewer.

I'll see your mediamatters and raise you a link

Pretty serious charge to level at CBS (CAD's childish capitalization aside), but please, let's take a step back here. All we have is Ken Starr's word for it. Why would anyone jump to the conclusion that he was telling the truth when it meant that CBS had essentially lied in one of their segments. I realize those of you who think Fox News is the new paradigm of journalistic integrity don't think too much of CBS, and to be honest I have my doubts as well. Which is all the more reason that CBS wouldn't try something so obvious and stupid, especially when it results in nothing better than a sound bite from Ken Starr.

Could CBS be that dumb and that biased that they would out and out lie about what Starr said, when they knew they would be caught? Maybe, but remember the rule about conspiracies. When there is a simpler explanation, that explanation is probably right. The simpler explanation? That Starr shot his mouth off and then thought better of it.
