Unfortunately this tends to happen quite a bit in Muslim countries (maybe in all of the third world, but I've only got experience in some Muslim ones). The people are so sexually repressed that it tends to spill out in some rather hideous ways.

News outlets have been using "sexually assaulted" as euphemism for rape for a while now. Sometimes they even just say "assaulted". Rape is such an ugly word.

I was shocked that Katie Couric was down in the streets of Cairo last week. She looked uneasy and I thought that she was putting herself in danger. CBS whisked her out of there fast and she was back in New York the next day.

This Lara Logan may be a knowledgeable reporter, but pretty faces in a hostile setting can lead to mayhem. Would they send her into a protest of a white cop shooting a black man in Detroit?

I'm sure I'll regret this but do you have any reporting on this issue at all? I hadn't heard about it and a quick 'muslim rape sweden' google revealed TONS of hard right wing websites repeating the same 2 or 3 blog posts associating rape and muslims without you know, evidence. At the bottom of it all was an Amnesty International piece on rape in Sweden that doesn't mention Islam at all. So I'd be curious if you can find any non NY Post type articles that present any factual evidence of some association between rapes and muslims, or if you're just repeating what you heard.

The rape laws in Sweden are very stringent and many sex crimes that are reported as rapes in Sweden would not called that elsewhere. Other countries in Europe with about the same proportion of muslims as Sweden have much lower rates of sexual assaults. But immigrants ARE actually very overrepresented in the rape statistics, they about 5 times as likely to be perpetrators per capita.

But hey, immigration and multiculturalism is great. At least that's what the swedish politicians say, and if you don't think so you're probably a racist :\

Are you saying that US blacks are just as likely to gang-rape a reporter during a protest as the Egyptians were during a celebration?

That is known as a "statistic". As I asked for above, is there any evidence to support this very widely held claim? I'm not denying it, I'm investigating it. I couldn't find any support for it. Evidentiary support is what differentiates facts from regurgitated pablum.

In this case, I think he has a point. You put your hand into a fire, you may get burnt. Attractive white women going into a mob unprotected anywhere in the 2nd or 3rd world is asking for trouble.

I think any reporter of non - arab decent walking thru that mob is asking for trouble, being blond, beautiful and most likely percieved as a pro-american reporter just multiplies the "really bad idea" factor.

She knew being there was extremely risky, she chose to walk thru a mostly male mob of thousands. I am not surprised that happened.
