We saw what happened when an American TALKED about burning the Quran. Now imagine if during the 4th of July a Muslim woman was raped while the fireworks were going off in a public place surrounding by onlookers. What would the Muslim world's reaction be?

She's a whore?

Low-life scumbags. That's why I didn't give a shit about their "revolution" or their shitty country. The bleeding hearts in America were all cheering for these guys, turns out they were cheering for rapist scum. How does a crowd of 200 partake in this. What kind of fucked up society is it down there?

So you're going to blame them all for the actions of a few in a mob? Seems pretty ridiculous if you ask me. The incident is still reprehensible, but the entire country and people are not to blame. Only the people that committed such actions should shoulder such blame. After all, we don't blame all Americans when the WBC protests a funeral.

300 people is a few? 300 people stood by and watch a person be sexually assaulted over a prolonged period of time. In what civilized society would such a thing happen?

Who cares if rapes in Sweden average on part with other countries? That wasn't the point. The point was that immigrants committed more rapes per capita than non-immigrants.

And you take something as true if it's published on hundreds of websites? That's just idiotic. Stop pretending you're an open-minded person because you're not.

Hummmm, you need to separate WHICH group/ethics of immigrants commit rapes/crimes and whether they were LEGAL or ILLEGAL.

Just like we all know stories about Catholic priests and young boys. We can not say "look, the point was that church going folks committed more rapes per capita than non-church going folks". See my point?

So? Blame those people that stood by and did nothing as a mob did mob things and the mob that performed such despicable acts. Don't blame the entire country or revolution for it.

When 95% of the country's minds have been poisoned by a backwards-thinking, misogynistic religion damn straight I am going to blame the entire country.

In no modern, civilized society would the public rape of an individual be observed by *hundreds of people* and not stopped. None.

They're all the same.
Yeaeeeh, no not really.
You know how I can tell?
mmmm...how?
They ALL get angry when you say they're all the same.
Probably -just MAYBE- because they're not?
Iraqi's find it shameful to be associated with Afghans, who they consider to be poor and dirty. Afghans find it shameful to be considered an Arab.
Oh DEAR GOD. Afghans and Arabs are now the same? Is that your example??? Are you trying to actually PROVE you don't know what you're talking about?
See my point?
Yep. You do not -indeed, know what you're talking about.

Excellent thread.

Who's "you"? Are you criticizing the study? Did you read it? Why are you bringing this up?

Like hell I would and like hell nobody in a crowd of 300 wouldn't anywhere else but the primitive Middle East.

A big internet toughguy like yourself would.
I guess you could ask Hugo Alfredo Tale-Yax about this, if he hadn't bled to death while people just walked on by. That happened in America by the way. I'm sure you are capable of looking up the name on Google yourself.

I pass at least three homeless people laid out in the street on the way to work every day. I have no idea if they are dead or not. Are we supposed to stop and take their pulse? Any NYer is used to that and unless the guy had a knife sticking out of his back the Tale-Yax thing is a murky situation. That story is a huge stretch from a crowd of 300 letting a rape happen and nobody lifting a finger.

Anyone who's taken Psych 101 has read about "crowd paralysis" or whatever the proper term for it is. The fact that I am aware of the condition alone is pretty much a guarantee that if I saw bad shit going down I would not stand there and wait for someone else to take action.

Why is the trend of the neocon righties to create a position that the "evil liberals" take and then argue against it. Are you all really this stupid?

200 men surrounded her chanting jew jew jew jew .... While gang raping her. This was an anti-zionist hate crime. The media people dont want you to know the true nature of this crime the Men purposely with malice of fore-thought surrounded the woman to keep people from interfering and committed gang-rape becuse they thought she was a jew.

Just more hatred and murder committed by muslims. Coming to America Soon.

I read something strange about this case. Several stories have put the Egyptians shouting "Jew! Jew!" as they assaulted her. I wonder (assuming that it's true) why they would think she is a Jew. (Perhaps she is Jewish, I dunno.) I also wonder why they would shout "Jew! Jew!" and not the equivalent in Arabic - or is it the same word?

EDIT: Oops! Piasabird beat me to the draw.

First off, I am not a "rightie", I'm not registered with any political party and have come up a centrist on every political gauge I've taken.

My issue is with the misguided, idealistic Americans who sit on Twitter sipping their $7 lattes thinking they are helping the human race by cheering on the Egyptian protestors, where if they did even the slightest bit of probing they would discover the people the are rooting for are every bit as wicked as the people they are trying to oust.

Every generation of youth wants their own Vietnam. Egypt/Middle East ain't it.
