How are they going to discuss the real issue when they won't even call it what it is, lie about it, ignore embassies in crisis etc....etc...etc. They are all fools.

Will be interesting to see them dance around the problems with islamic terrorists and instead pretend it's something else. Maybe a movie on youtube is to blame again? ;)

1: Bush caused it with the Iraq invasion.
2: Half of Iraq fell to ISIS under Obama's watch.

  • Were we not responsible for what Bush did?
  • Do we not need to do something about the mess we made?
3: The situation was made worse when Libya fell to terrorism.
4: Obama directly helped ISIS by arming Syrian terrorists in a bid to topple Syria.
5: Haven't we had enough of toppling governments, if ISIS is the end result?

Dear Democrat candidates, which one of you is going to both simultaneously vow to kill ISIS while also dropping the Neocon policy of democratizing the Middle East? You can do both.

Yes this. Just kill ISIS and leave. We'll never build democracies there because it isn't culturally possible.

They have the right idea if they don't call this a general problem in Islam. Not because Islam is a "religion of peace." It isn't. Because posing this as a war between the west and Islam is counter-productive. Most Muslims are culturally backward but not terroristic. It's best we don't nudge the bulk of Muslims further into the terrorist camp by suggesting that we are at war with their religion. In the long term, Muslim terrorism can only be solved by other Muslims and incendiary anti-Muslim rhetoric does not help matters. I'm also quite critical of the apologia we hear from some on the left for the problems in Islamic culture. I just think it's best to avoid widening the issue into a grand us v. them scenario, or we're likely to make it more true just by saying it.

That sounds a lot like we create what we fear.

Yes, that is literally true in this case, to a point. The thing we fear is actually real, but we are enlarging the thing we fear with such incendiary rhetoric. People who malign the "religion of peace" formulation just don't get it. It isn't whether or not it is true in the strict sense. It's a matter of what is a smart thing to say and what isn't.

I have much criticism for the left in relation to Islam, but the right has its own problems. Those ridiculous websites which like to cite warlike passages from the Koran and who argue that the peaceful Muslims are actually interpreting their religion incorrectly have got to be the purest example of rank stupidity I can think if. What a great idea. Tell the peaceful Muslims that they should re-think their peaceful stance because the Jihadists have it right after all. Doh!

Looks like I struck a nerve there eh.... Sanderclaus and Klinton are about as weak on national security and military strength as TJX was with their data security to suggest otherwise is pretty laughable.

remember you're talking about the two folks from the party that are more concerned with labels than they are stepping up to the problem http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/nov/14/democratic-debate-iowa-hillary-clinton-refuses-say/

Reminds me of Stewart's quip in likening this kind of attitude with 'Mike Tyson telling someone their tattoo is stupid,' - only in this case, the other person doesn't have a tattoo.

At least we're both laughing, right?

Guess domestic issues can take a back seat again. Terrorism must be the single greatest threat to American prosperity.
According to the Democrat Party, it's neither of those. It's climate change. I'd have thought at least half of any debate would be centered around that.

No, he sounds like an idiot.

Right, because ISIS is no longer growing in strength right? http://www.wsj.com/articles/obama-says-islamic-state-no-longer-growing-in-strength-1447435387

We will see how many new recruits they have after this latest attack on Paris, but go ahead continue to bury your head in the sand...

This is not even worth addressing

It will be interesting to see what approach they take to spin over to matters of defense and security since it was never a major focus for either of them and they both appear the weakest on this..

Nothing like getting some libridiots panties in a bunch on a sunday.

It was never a focus for Obama either but he sure as hell did a better job at it than GWB did.

As best as I can tell the standard republican line on what to do foreign policy wise is to be 'tough', which appears to mean 'I have no idea'.

Obviously a former SOS has no idea how to assess foreign threats & how to address them. None at all. Certainly not more than an arrogant casino mogul who's full of himself & his own bullshit, right?

It means pugnacious posturing hopefully leading to opportunities to spread free, freedom & liberty at gunpoint & at great profit.

It's a twisted version of American Exceptionalism.

Democrats don't have to say anything, all they have to do is take the neocon policy to 11 and blame someone else.
