UNION CITY, Ga. -- A 20-year-old McDonald's employee spent a night in jail and is facing criminal charges after a police officer complained that the burger she prepared with too much salt made him sick.

Kendra Bull was charged with misdemeanor reckless conduct and arrested at 1:30 a.m. on Friday. After a court hearing later that morning, she was released on $1,000 bond.

Bull said she accidentally spilled too much salt on the hamburger meat, but she told her supervisor and another co-worker, who she said tried to thump the salt off. Bull took a break and said she ate a burger made from the salty meat.

Union City Police Officer Wendell Adams ordered a Big N' Tasty at the drive-through window and also got a burger made from the oversalted meat. A short time later, Adams returned to the restaurant and told the manager he had gotten sick from eating it.

Bull admitted to spilling the salt on the burger, and the officer asked her to step outside, where he questioned Bull further, she said.

Bull, who said she has worked at the restaurant for five months, said she did not know a police officer had ordered the burger because she could not see the drive-through window from her work area.

Bull said Adams insisted the burger must have had something worse than salt on it. But Adams did not eat the entire burger, and samples were sent to the state crime lab to find out what was in or on the burger that made Adams sick. The results have not been released.

Union City public information officer George Louth said Bull was charged with reckless conduct because she served the burger "without regards to the well-being of anyone who might consume it."

Union City police are still investigating.

wow. what a waste of time and resources. just get your money back and move on.

to arrest the girl is insane. odds are it will be thrown out unless they find something else on it.

Abuse of power by the PoPo. Whats new?

The cop should have gotten a free burger from the manager and been done with it. People get emotional and their judgment gets clouded when they feel they have been wronged.

Reminds me of supertroopers. The cop thinks she was messing with him because he's a cop and screwed with his food.

right, if a normal person called 911 to report they got sick from a burger, the police wouldn't respond, the 911 operator would tell them to piss off

I just read this story, and it is retarded. The girl ate a burger herself, and did not get sick.

That's my main problem with the story. The cop is using his police powers to get special treatment. There's not a cop in this country who would make an arrest stemming from a police call from an ordinary citizen. At worst, the burger should have been sent to the lab to check for substances. Then the worker could be arrested if something showed up.

When I worked at McDonalds you seasoned them right on the grill... hence why she said she went on break and then the burger was served to the guy (as in she cooked them with the seasoning and left and the assembler used her prepared burger).

heh when i worked at McDonalds (this is 17 yrs ago).

it would be.
put buns in
put hamburgers on (buns are now finished)
pull buns off
mustard
ketchu
pickels
onions
cheese
burgers should be finishing up.
season burgers (salt/pepper)
put burgers on buns and put up to be wrapped.

i could make a dozen in roughly 36 seconds.

but yeah now they make the hamburgers and throw them in a tray or something. its not as good as when i worked there heh

Yeah they mass cook them at all of the fast food chains now. And I know McDonalds specifically seasons their beef on the grill.
