Caught On Tape: Bus Driver Allegedly Slapping Down Syndrome Child

Chances are the kid was being an ass. But, it can be more difficult dealing with somebody with a developmental disorder like Downs. Eitherway I surely wouldn't want anybody but me hitting my own kid (dogone it!). Although the kid probably got over it soon and will not be scarred for life the bus driver should, and obviously will, lose his job over it.

When a kid acts up on the bus, send the tape to the school and let his ass get chewed out by the principal. Happened to me when I was young.

It's not the bus driver's job to smack the kids. Down syndrome or not.

Spanking and all that is simply semantics anyways.. if you can't make a kid calm down without beating him, then you shouldn't be around em. What Tyler said doesn't surprise me though, he's proved time and time again on this board he oughta be snipped before he spreads himself through the gene pool.

Bus drivers for ESE kids need to be screened and trained. They should also have aides on the bus to assist them. They should also be paid extra because of the extra skill it takes.

It sounds like there wasn't even an attendant (aide) on the bus. That is not good at all.

Either way, I am not a fan of the busing system, period.

Ai yo on Tyler's comments.

me either but to get to the .4 schools in our area busing is the only option, fortunately here the drivers are usually mothers who like the hours and their pay isn't bad,my son's a good egg too 🙂

That's good to hear. 🙂 And no surprise your son is a sweetie... look at who his mom is!

Our bus drivers are pretty nice, too... Miss Judy comes to the class every afternoon and we all walk down to the bus together.

Unfortunately, you get the occasional idiot who probably should never have been hired in the first place. Working with special needs kids is very rewarding but it takes special people to understand that.

Personally, I'd rather work with the special ed kids than the regular brats! 😉

My son now works primarily with male staff but that's a really good thing! We are fortunate that there are enough caring men invested in teaching to be able to afford him that option at this time in his life🙂

I agree with notfred on this point. as for the rest...well... no.

No kid deserves to ever be hit by a bus driver.

I didn't say that I think it was a good idea to slap the kid, but I've seen plenty of children be spanked or slapped when they were acting innapropriately, and I've never had a problem with it. Of course, I'm assuming the slap did no real damage other than stinging for a couple minutes. Just because I don't blame him doesn't mean it was right, but I could certainly see why he'd do it.

He has fvcking Down's Syndrome. Do you have a relative with Down's Syndrome? I do. They cannot be told what to do and follow orders very easily.

Did you mean "They cannot be told what to do and do not follow orders very easily"?

Thanks grammar police, but I have other things on my mind right now. Namely severe flooding and tornadoes that have caused severe damage in East Alabama. Sorry my post did not meet your quality control, but not all of us have time to proofread every post. Thanks ass.

Talk about an overreaction. I would tell you to go outside and drown, but I'm too nice for that. Have a nice day! 😀

Well get off of the internet and get as far away from your trailer park as possible.

I would if I lived in a trailer park, but considering I live way nicer than you than won't be necessary. Thanks for the kind thoughts though.
How can being the resident Back Scrubber in a Gay Turkish Bath House be way better than the way I live. First of all I live in California, not "Grab Your Ankles" Alabama. Secondly, I happen to live in a 6 year old 3000 SQ Foot House with a Pool and 1 Acre lot. Finally I have Sex with a Babe who isn't named Lance like you do. Now tell me, who has a better life?

LOL... classic Red... 🙂

Oh wow California! I guess you want praise for living there. You are not going to get it from me. Secondly, yes I do live better than you and will always continue to do so. I mean my garage is a mere 4000 sq ft. Thanks for playing. BTW, the gay jokes get really old after a while. Come up with some new material. 😛

The problem is Dezign... he isn't serious. Red and I get along just fine, but we like to fvck with each other. You on the other hand are a miserable POS, and I hope your life is terrible. You can fvck off as usual and continue to live your wannabe Hollywood life all you want.

No Praise needed. Afterall living better than you is no great accomplishment!

My brother is autistic, and anyone with ANY common sense would understand that handicapped children are not the same as regular children, hence them being diagnosed as handicapped. Mentally handicapped children do not act like they should, of course they don't. They don't have the same thought processes / understanding that supposedly normal people do, so how can they be expected to act the same? While you do not let them get away with such behavior, hitting them will do no good. Especially since pain is a rush for alot of different mental disabilities, it releases endorphins that they love to feel, and can simply promote them to abuse themselves.

And no one has the right to put their hands on someone else's child. I may spank my kids, but God help the man/woman that decides its their right to parent my child that way, because once I get my hands on them, they are done for.

I don't see why everyone's surprised that this happens? blame society. We don't place a value on education or people who deal with our children. Have you seen the salary bus drivers get? yeah not that much. You expect someone to be highly trained in dealing with children with that salary? you have GOT to be kidding. Take a look at our teachers, most of them suck a$$ cuz the pay sucks and the children aren't taught to respect their teachers.

Was what the bus driver did right? NO! but will it continue to happen? YES!

If we don't respect them, how can you expect them to respect you? Raise the pay level of teachers/educational workers and then you can complain.

That Dude that drove that particular Bus didn't look like an educated individual. In fact he looked as if he was beaten about the head and Shoulders himself. A Learned Behavior. Maybe it's the system that hired him that should be tried.

You think he looked bad? I saw his mother on the news. I can see it runs in the family.

EXACTLY. You think he had a college degree in child psychology or anything? With that salary you think they're gonna attract PHD candidates to take the job? They make less than 30k / year.
