Bus drivers for ESE kids need to be screened and trained. They should also have aides on the bus to assist them. They should also be paid extra because of the extra skill it takes.
It sounds like there wasn't even an attendant (aide) on the bus. That is not good at all.
Either way, I am not a fan of the busing system, period.
me either but to get to the .4 schools in our area busing is the only option, fortunately here the drivers are usually mothers who like the hours and their pay isn't bad,my son's a good egg too

Our bus drivers are pretty nice, too... Miss Judy comes to the class every afternoon and we all walk down to the bus together.
Unfortunately, you get the occasional idiot who probably should never have been hired in the first place. Working with special needs kids is very rewarding but it takes special people to understand that.
Personally, I'd rather work with the special ed kids than the regular brats!
