that's kinda wrong.

anyway, good update. lay down the law a bit, make some rules, etc. you are obviously in a position to do so.

Not to mention the pot smoking kids in the apartment next to mine (a few years back) utterly destroyed the place by the smell, burn holes in the carpet, and just being the doped-out bums they were. They had to gut the apartment after they were evicted for non-payment. I guess that's what happens when you spend all day doing nothing - it doesn't pay well.

Kick his butt out of the place before he ruins it with smoke, burns, and sloppiness associated with stoner stupidity.

And let it be known I *do* classify alcohol in the drug category. What friends and family weren't ruined by pot were done in by alcohol. Hooray.

Impossible, people smoke pot every day that are completely normal and enjoy a healthy successful life.

I agree with you, a lot of people I've known have ruined their lives by starting out with it saying - "Its just pot man, we wont ever do anything else or become addicted"

Now their addicts doing crystal meth, and other stuff.

One even had the goals of becoming a CCIE, he had taken CCNA CCNP classes passed both tests, and guess what his goal is now? He wants to deal pot and crystal meth out of his mom's house with his friend.

Sounds like you're rich enough to not care about the extra $600 so boot him if you need to.

So tell him no smoking around the place, buy him a color changing bowl to use instead of the bong and it's much easier to hide too!, thus you make him happy and you happy and we all like happy people don't we?

Let me ask you this, why are your parents so stubborn on this issue? Is it because they don't want you getting in trouble in the condo that they own? Are they just trying to look out for your best interest? Or do you simply come from a family that enforces the rules they think are right and consider any kind of smoking an immoral and unhealthy thing? Once you answer this I can formulate a proper counter-rant.

I agree with most of the people saying you need to talk to him and make sure he respects you. Its true that pot is mostly harmless, but the assholes that want to punish everyone that doesn't share their warped sense of morals are not harmless.

What are your career plans? Look into background checks that many employers use and see if they might apply to your field (a few even use polygraphs). Knowingly permitting your roommate to toke up around you may come back to bite you in the ass later on in that case.

But if all your concerned about is the smoke then tell him to keep it outside, use a vaporizer, or find a new roommate.

your parents sound like total dicks. get your relationship straightened out with them first.

you're in college, expect people to be hanging out and crashing at your place. you're in college, you shouldn't have nice furniture anyway so don't worry about it. you're in college, so get that rod out of your ass.

as for your friend--giving the key out to others is ridiculous. you have every reason to be suspicious about who will show up at your house when you're not there. to me, the pot itself is no tthe issue; i know plenty of normal people that leas happy, balanced, and sucessful lives and light-up on ocassion (i happen to be one of those people ;) ). the issu, is that not all of those who smoke are as easy going as we would like to believe. sooner or later, he probably will attract some skeezy people over. he's not on the lease, so he's a guess...wtf?? he should be respecting every rule you or your parents put forth. therefore, he has no legal precedent against you if you want to but him out. passing around a key to your apartment is a valid reason for doing so. so...do it.

Also, tell your parents to go fvck themselves. taking away your car for his smoking? why are they such douches? are you guys jehova's witnesses or something?

BTW, I wish I could find a condo in my area as cheap as 250k. expensive my ass......

I can set the record straight on this one.

Pot doesn't mix well with people that have addictive personalities. Pot is not addictive per se, but it can be extremely habit forming. Introduced into the life of someone who tends to become addicted to most everything they do, pot use can be so habitual as to appear addictive. That said, too much of anything is a bad thing. Weed is no exception to this rule.

Personally I don't agree that it is a gateway drug. Rather, prolonged exposure to crowds that deal with pot (dealers, stoners, etc.) are simply more likely to have connections to sources which deal with other drugs. Out of boredom or curiosity or both, heavy pot users sometimes tap these sources and use other, harder substances.

To sum it up, there are plenty of people out there that use pot and surely a good number of them can benefit from its use much like they can benefit from taking a jog or a nice hot bath. The end result is stress relief although I do believe there are many healthier ways to achieve it, and I do believe in the notion of being "naturally high" or "high on life". The fact of the matter is, there is a good chunk of the marijuana-using community that has become dependent on the drug and most of these folks are not likely to admit that they have a "problem". Society's attitudes towards pot are becoming increasingly lax. Some people contest that weed is much less harmful than alcohol. It is my opinion that the same "addiction" risks apply. Just as one is careful with the amount and frequency of their alcohol use, they should also lend this same caution to pot use.

Just make sure he doesn't smoke it in the house as it will get you in trouble and make sure he understands that.

One of the ground rules I laid down for my current roommate was that I didn't much care about what he did outside the apartment; however, if he smoked pot inside the apartment, I would call the police on him. I have no tolerance for drug use in my abode, even if it's just pot.

I favor legalization, but while it's illegal, it doesn't happen in my house or near me. Even if it were legal, I would ask him to do it outside for safety and aesthetic reasons.
