Caught inbetween Genrerations? (NV25 VS NV30)

I'm currently building a new rig, and the age old question has come up; buy the best now or buy cheap now and buy the best of the next generation?. Well I've already decided that the Hammer will be too expensive for me so I'm going to stick with the 32bit Athlon for the next few years. I'm currently debating weather to wait for the Kt400 or go with the Kt333 (I need a system built and ready to go by mid June). What about the video card? Go with a TI 4400 now or go with a TI 200 and upgrade to NV 30 in the fall (If I get the Kt400 with 8x AGP Suppor the latter would seem more reasonable right?). Thanks

If I were you, I would wait for the kt400 and get a Ti200 for now. I would overclock it like hell and wait impatiently for the NV30 😉

From what Ive seen the performance difference between 2X and 4X AGP is minimal. I would assume that to be similar for 8X AGP.

If I were you, I would get an Epox 8K3A+ ($100) with one of the AGIOA 1600+ from newegg ($67). Get some PC2700 Corsair RAM ($90) and you would be up and running at 333FSB and XP2200+ speeds. All for around $300. Then Id add one of the Triplex Millenium Silver GF4 Ti4200. They come stock clocked to near Ti4400 speeds, and easily clock up to Ti4600 speeds.

That combo (which my little brother has) is relatively cheap for a mobo/CPU/RAM/vid card upgrade, around $500, and you will get top notch performance for quite some time. At least until the Hammer prices drop, along with NV30.
