6 Prison Guards were being investigated by the Feds

FBI Returns fira after being shoot at entering a prison where the Guards were to be arrested for Criminal Activity.

<CNN>

Three people were shot, two fatally, at a Tallahassee, Florida, federal detention center Wednesday as federal agents went to arrest six corrections officers, authorities said.

The six guards were being arrested in an investigation into allegations that guards were trading drugs for sex with female inmates, federal law enforcement sources said.

One of those being arrested opened fire, said Jeff Westcott, spokesman for the FBI's Jacksonville bureau.

Federal agents returned fire, killing the suspect, Westcott said. An agent with the Department of Justice's Office of Inspector General died in the shootout, he said.

Why try to arrest them at work when they were armed?? Wouldn't it be better maybe to grab them on the way to the parking lot or something?

This makes me think of the 'Good-Old-Boy' that had been aprison guard that ended up running the show for his amusement at Abu Grhaib.

My guess is they were all in the same location. You start waiting for them outside the premises and you have to get a lot more resources to deal with the situation.

It is upsetting that the agent got killed. But I am really happy to hear that they actually decided to stop the guards. Some checks like this are definitely needed.

Now they need to crack down on rotten cops and politicians. But who will police the corrupt FBI agents. It is all corrupt, but it is good to hear the FBI are at least trying.

You do have to wonder that. I guess it's possible all the men they were trying to arrest were concealed-carry permit holders anyway, but even then, a shootout at a federal detention center seems to me to be something to be avoided, other things being equal.

There's good cops and bad cops. Good/bad in every line of work.

My dad was a cop for 35 years. A good cop. It's a line of work. Peace has to be maintained. Fair laws can form the basis of a healthy Nation.

When things get corrupt. Well then we have to delve into all the bad side of human nature to figure out what went wrong. What's really going on. Ect.

Sometimes add nauseum add infinitum. Like prison scandals involving guards/inmates. One of the most disgusting topics of the bunch for sure. But important nonetheless.
