Enough of the pride days. Days to celebrate in this country should be ones that bring us together not seperate us.

Doesn't holidays like St. Patrick Day bring us all together? I see news reports of people celebrating and it seems a lot of non-Irish are at the bars drinking it up.

Wannabee Irish!! 🙂

Think you really only need your own "day" if your people were brutally oppressed, captured, murdered or enslaved on a large scale in the past... And only for the purpose of recognizing those mistakes and paying proper respects.

What such purpose would Caucasian male day serve?

Irish man right here! 😀😀😀

Well, actually, my ancestors were, but I'd definitely pass with my reddish-blonde hair and pale skin.

Busmaster,
I wasn't gonna reply to this thread...then I saw your reply.

I make no assumptions as to your color, race or sex, for that matter. But your post hit a nerve. You seem to be (correct me if I'm wrong) one of those types of folks who somehow still feels "wronged".

I get up in arms when I hear people complaining "my people were enslaved" and things of that nature. Oh really? According to the history books, slavery was abolished way back in the 1800's. That means that no living member of your family was a slave. As a matter of fact, it's very unlikely that even your great-great grandfather/mother was a slave.

Also, "recognizing mistakes and paying proper respects" Bah. I'm supposed to apologize for something that people who weren't even related to me did 200 years ago? And even if they were somehow distantly related, you can't control anyone's actions, let alone what people did before you were born. And one more thing....ever heard of "not blaming the son for the father's sins?"

I think too many people these days are riding the Pity Train.

Oh, BTW. I'm a minority.

Um, okay, sir. I'm Chinese American. Unless I am wrong and there is indeed a holiday for my people, or the males of my people, I have nothing to do with this. I have a greatuncle who for on the side of the US in WW2. I know of no relatives who have come to work on the railroad or gold rush in the 1800's but surely we don't need a history lesson on that.

I do not feel wronged at all personally. In fact, I criticize African americans who feel they need to be repaid for the whole slavery thing. However, I am offended that some people feel the need for a Caucasian male day. Please adjust your argument accordingly.

🙂

MichaelD, BTW I pretty much agree with you on everything you're saying there. But there's a big difference between a holiday, a happy joyous occasion to celebrate or recognize the past for whatever happened, and retribution. I don't feel retribution is called for in any case.

White pride month would serve to celebrate my culture and draw recognition to the punishing abusive attrocities I face everyday.

Racial profiling - I am pulled over because police have to track traffic stops and fill white male quotas. Next time i'm pulled over I WILL sue the police for racial profiling.

Discrimination of public funds - My predominantly white neighborhood receives no special funds on education and community fairs even though we pay most of the taxes.

Discrimination of the highest form when my community's voice in local leadership is diluted when jurisdiction lines are drawn and redrawn and redrawn to increase minority say. Our very basic foundation of goverment is being uprooted from "Majority rules" to "minority rules". And I'm not just talking about race...i'm talking about agenda as well.

I am very proud of my english-germanic-switzerland-chinese-african decent and DEMAND MY JUSTICE!!!!!

Think i'm kidding but I'm not...the state of affairs with racial problems in this country is getting worse. It is inducing class and racial warfare by continually drawing lines and infinitely classifying people based on race or heritage.

:disgust:

Busmaster,

I just reread my post and realized that I came off a bit harsh...didn't mean to do that. I fired off from the hip. I have a fat mouth and can type very quickly (120WPM+) I wasn't shooting AT YOU. Just the whole concept of the diff BT a holiday and repayment or retribution...like you said in your last post! 🙂 Peace, my bud! <<I go back under my rock now>>

think of this if you live in canada, you are canadian
But, if you live in america you do not consider yourself to be off american blood. you consider yourself all of the ethnicities that make you up. i say that majority of all people in america should call themselves americans, by bringing up your ancestrial heritage you keep racism alive.
