Cats

I thought that cats were to be nibble and graceful. My kitty knocks items off shelves and my moniter anytime she walks by them. Do I just have a cluts for a cat, or is she going to become graceful...lol😉

Exactly!

Cats are wonderful animals...when they want to be. They can be loving and gentle and graceful...when they want to be. They can be smart and well trained...when they want to be!

You get the picture! 😛

maybe... we had one cat that was very clumsy... it was as if he didn't know how large his body was. the other cat is extremely nimble and so when she knocks something off a shelf its because she enjoys destroying our things.

she doesn't care and she's definitely going to own the place...

I had a cat named El Gato who would run up and down the keys of my piano at 3AM whenever he felt like it. He also liked to hide behind trees and attack the shins of any poor sap who walked by.

Then there was Dr. Indiana Jones. He let me know that he didn't like one of my dates by begging to be let inside the house and then promptly taking a dump in front of my suitor. That cat was a much better judge of character than I ever was. 🙂

<---needs a kitty

You're right, she's just in the middle of training me, she won't stop till I move everything to where she wants things. 😀

I think cats are like any other animal, and like people - they're all different. Some graceful, some not.

BTW, my GF and I were at a Christmas party Fri night and found a stray kitten outside the hotel, freezing, clean, very hungry. So we took it. She already had a dog. Now the dog eats the cat food and the cat eats the dog food. Anything to worry about? Maybe buy different kind of food?
Also anyone know how to keep a kitten from lying on your neck while your asleep? The last adult cat I had did this too.

Actually cat food has much higher protein content than a dog needs and over the long term it could be bad for the dog. The only real solution is to either feed the cats at the same time as the dog and not leave the food laying about after the cat is finished eating or find a high place to feed the cat that the dog cannot reach. Ironically we keep a couple dishes of cat food on top of one of our dogs crates. 😉 And btw that is a very nice thing you and your girlfriend did.

Also, dog food lacks taurine (sp?), which is essential for proper vision in cats. Feeding a cat dog food for a long enough period of time can make the cat go blind. The key being "for a long enough period of time". And if the cat is getting taurine (sp?) from something else that it eats, then it's OK. Still, best to be feeding the cat food to the cat and the dog food to the dog. There's a reason they have separate foods and don't just share "furry animal food". 🙂

EDIT: To keep the cat off your neck while you sleep, close the bedroom door. 😉

Q: How do I keep the cat from sleeping on my neck/face/chest/crotch/armpit.

A:Easy, move into another friggin bed!

I have 5 cats and they ALL like to sleep either on or around my wife. Its so funny to hear my wife yell at them while two are on her neck and face and another one or two are snuggled up against her back and another still is lying across her legs. The damn things(they are all MY cats btw) have now learned to twist the doorknob to our room. But, our God , being a kind and benevolent God, has refused to allow these spawns of Satan opposeable thumbs. But man oh man do they try like heck to get in. And after two hours of rattling the knob(all pun intended),we relent and let the horde in.

In case you didnt know, cats are the only other animals beside humans that learn from example. They see you open a closet to get something to eat, they try to open the closet to get something to eat.It goes on and on.

Peace

heh..no kidding. I came back from a vacation to find cat food and their treats all over the kitchen floor. They'd opened a cabinet door and chewed holes in the bags.

Now I have a problem with my older cat (4 1/2 years). She keeps crapping on the carpet. I think the younger cat (have had her 2 1/2 yrs) is bothering her and won't let her go in the litter box...argh! And it's new carpet, too!!

i want a kitty again. I miss my old cat. thou the next one i get will be an indoor cat. Nothing more scaring than being 12 and seeing your cat(that has been around longer than you) get hit by a car.

reading all these makes me miss my cat 🙁
she's down in texas while im freezing my ass off in DC
but at least ill get to see her when i go down for new years 🙂

we put the cat food on a counter in the laundry room, and put her litter box up against the counter so she wouldn't have to jump so far (not that she couldn't get on the counter without it... lying cat). the dog would get to it otherwise... of course the cat would eat a little dog food from time to time but not much

Our cat lays in the bathroon sink, its so lazy that it doesn't even get out when you turn the water on... not that I would try that cuase that's just mean. 😀

My cat knocks things down on purpose. She thinks it's fun. Then she loses them under the refrigerator, if they're small enough.

Cats are simply a superior form of alien intellegence that have come to this planet
to allow he lowly 'human' life form to pamper them as the royalty that they decended from.

These pics might make you want one even more. 🙂 BTW, these aren't mine, but another AT'er.

My GF has never owned a cat before. She was blown away that I put this little (black) 2-3(?) month old kitten in the littler box and it knew exactly what to do and where to find it again. Then we decided that we just couldn't leave the box where it was because of lack of space, so moved it to the other bathroom at the other end of the house, showed the kitten where it was, and it used it there from then on. Though one occasion someone was in the bathroom w/ the door shut and the kitten peed on the floor just outside the door. Not the kitten's fault though.
