lol I used to do this. Stupid cat thinks the red dot is an object and tries to catch it.
It's also fun to fling strings around at it, or whack it with a dry, uncooked spaghetti pasta noodle.
 
Bricks are fun, too. You put the cat in a cage and start throwing bricks through the small door while it frantically tries to dodge them. The only problem is that's it's a pretty quick game unless you have a lot of cats.
 
Oh, what a surprise. jbourne comes into a thread about cats and craps in it. Who would ever have expected it?? Only tv psychic john edwards could have guessed that would happen.

Lasers aren't cruel but they can frustrate the cat, because it never actually "gets" the prey. You should reward the cat at the end in some way so they aren't just frustrated for 30 minutes.
 
you, know, if youtake little pieces of scotch tape, fold them over, and attach them to their feet...boundless fun as well 🙂

OR

wad a little piece of scotch tape and attached it to their tails 🙂

I say Scotch tape because it's sticky enough to stay on, butnot enough to hurt the little guys. 🙂

Is it really still funny to you? It's literally every single thread about cats ever posted on ATOT, you come in and make 3-4 posts about various ways to maul or torture a cat. It reminds me of that episode of cheers where cliff claven attempts stand up and all of his jokes have the same punch line... "What's up with that?"
 
I use one for the dogs too. They've gotten to the point where if they hear the jingle from the keyring it's on they start ripping around looking for that stupid red dot.

My car loves chasing his laser. Funny thing is the pointer I have has a keychain attached to it. All you have to do is pick it up and when he hears the keychain part of it he instantly jumps up and starts looking around to find the red dot.

At the end of it too, I "catch" the laser dot myself, and put it away somewhere safe. My cats will see me do this, and watch my hand, to see where I'm putting the dot.

Yes, it really is funny to me. Cats make funny sounds when they're pissed. Everyone has a sick and twisted side to their sense of humor. Cats happen to be mine.

Because there is no physical sensation that results, just a lot of running around and never being able to "touch it". Check out some vet sites, they recommend switching to a real toy at the end or giving some food after the chase.

Cliff Claven thought others found his jokes funny. The difference is I know you don't think it's funny and I'm fine with that. I find it funny. I laugh. A little stress from the day disappears. I'm not here to give you warm fuzzies. Entertain yourself.

If you're using a class IIIb laser please keep it out of the cat's eyes. They cannot be repaired like yours too!

My cats love to chase them. I have a dog that will go nuts over it too! He and the cats have had a few head ons. They like the green ones even more despite the "experts" claiming they cannot see the differences in the color. Of course the different wavelength and coherence length, lack of astigmatism, etc. make the beam sparkle much more and thus more visible even if you cannot tell the difference between red and green.
