That is the point.... Not even the Catleaps are rated at 120hz.Let me put it this way. Who sells an ips display at any size that runs 120Hz? Nobody does except these that can be overclocked.
The panels were not designed to run at 120hz. No one knows the effects of the long term overclock on them.
If you follow the official Catleap threads that were created and started this whole catleap craze, there is a ton of info.
A lot of people running sli cannot get over 100hz due to the inherent pixel clock limitation even with the 2b pcbs.
And a lot of people even with the 2b pcbs land somewhere short of 120hz in between like 85-100hz.
Some claiming to be EE's claim there will be long term damage to the panel running over spec, others claim the opposite and the most damage that could happen would be to the pcb only.
Of course, there is a ton more info on these panels to digest in those threads before making a decision on whether or not to buy a 120hz pcb.
And if i was considering, it, i would read them all, so i completely understood what i was buying and getting into.
It isn't as simple as just buying one and you're at 120hz.
Even then, If i wanted to try 120hz, i'd wait until these 2b pcbs were more readily available and buy one and swap it myself, since it really isn't hard to do.
I dont blame anyone who wants 120hz enough to pre-order one of these for $550.
Nor do i blame anyone who says its not worth it and would rather swap the pcb themselves for less.
And yet others who don't even want to bother and are happy with what they have running at the rated 60z.
It is all just opinions, on what its worth to someone.
To some it is, and to some it isnt.
