It wasn't even a funny episode.

But it IS another opportunity to attack a Christian religion.

If your faith can't stand up to a good lampooning, then it's not worth all that much in the first place, isn't it?

Yes, all South Park does is attack Christian religions

DIAF and take all your "friends" with you.

If you don't like it, DON'T BLOODY WATCH IT.

No one has ever accused you of high reading comphrension, have they?

It was still a lame episode and this thread still gives idiots like you a chance to crap on Christians. There, was that plain enough?

My ex-GF of 18 months, who I am still friends with is Catholic.
I have nothing against them. I still think this sh!t is retarded.

Bittorrent, anyone?
😀

No seriously, let's all serach for a BT of it.
I'm pissed that anyone would allow an episode to be taken off the air.
It's SUPPOSED to offend anyone and everyone.
gtfo.

i have it i could just host it

I love Southpark.
I thought that episode was funny.
And, as I said here before (the day after when that episode first aired), I felt they had crossed the line in acceptable levels of offensiveness in their Virgin Mary stuff.

Yeah you would think people would learn by now that complaining and getting something like this taken off the air will only boost its popularity. (e.g. Michael Moore)

Oh and everyone who agrees that this should be taken off the air should STFU. Christians are always trying so hard to get attention and now that that they get it they bitch. Sorry this is the way it works in our society. You stick your head out that far from everyone else, your going to get attention from both ends of the spectrum.

I disagree. There are limits to what is acceptable. Regardless of which group is being made fun of, there are just some things that go past the limit. Here are some more (hopefully obvious) examples: make fun of the Jewish Holocaust and portray it as funny. Make fun of the tsunami victims. Somehow, make fun of the victims of 9/11. None would be considered acceptable by the standards of our society. Hopefully you're not suggesting that our society completely abandon some form of decency standards... How about we somehow combine the teletubbies and goatse for the little kids? Hmmm?

The Catholics deserve to be made fun of just as much as any other group. Portraying one of their most sacred symbols (statue of the Virgin Mary) in the manner that Southpark did was simply going too far.

These tings go past the limit to you, because you place value on them. The Virgin Mary does not have a great signficance in my life, nor does it for the majority of the population that is not Christian. If what South Park does offends you, don't watch it; the rest of the population who believes differently from you will.

What is acceptable to our society? Everything can be f we allow it. Everything is acceptable to our society if we tune in with our OWN remote controls and support it or give it attention. In our capitalistic society, if something is making money and popular it will stay. If it is unsuccessful and does not get public attention its gone.

Just because one group gets offended at something, the rest of the majority should NOT have to suffer because of it. If you firmly believe in your theology, you should be able to take what ever bashing and satire is coming.

Dude, they DID make fun of the Holocaust....
Cartman tried to have a new one, in the episode with the Passion of the Christ. He rallied everyone round to exterminate the Jews and they even showed him as Hitler!
By the way, one of the two creators is a Jew. Obviously a Jew finds the Holocaust acceptable.

You could also add in the episode where Cartman seeks to exterminate all the gingers, and then in that same episode where he seeks to exterminate all non-gingers.
Same kind of genocide, based on one particular aspect of a person.

Topic Title: Catholics get south park episode plugged!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/eo/20060103/en_tv_eo/18055

This makes me angry, south park offends everyone and they speak up and get their way? shame, shame,.

Enjoy, this is only the beginning, it won't be long before they successfully get all of South Park permanently banned

Then we'll sue you for it.

Everyone has the CHOICE to change the channel. It isn't that hard. Don't like what you are watching, change the f'ing channel.

SIMPLE AS THAT!

NO, your choice was taken away.

You have to find another Country for that kind of choice, the U.S. is no longer it.

Enjoy, this is what Americans want.

I believe that's one of their chief goals.

As much as I hate censorship, the issue isn't about changing the channel if you don't like what you are watching. That is easy to do.
The issue is defamation of character. Just because some Catholic person changes the channel, it does not mean that the defamation ends.

It would be like me publicizing that you were a cheater, fraud, evil, insert_negative_thing_here. Yes you could change the channel and not watch it, but that wouldn't end the defamation.

It is highly unlikely, but it could be possible that this Catholic group could sue South Park and/or Comedy Central for slander which is probably why Comedy Central pulled the repeat of the episode. There can be a very real legal consequence for defamation and, again, having somebody changing the channel is not the solution.

My personal opinion is that it is silly for this Catholic group to moan and groan about it, and I do find it somewhat petty. However, it is irresponsible on the part of those of you who claim that you can just change the channel because that is not the real issue.

Oh come on. Free speech |= same as defamation.

Don't like free speech?, please leave the Country.

The entire "freedom of speech" only applies between government entities and citizens. Not amongst the citizens.
The Supreme Court precedents and case law support defamation of character and slander/libel lawsuits. Those sorts of lawsuits have happened, still happen, and will probably continue to happen.
Don't like the rule of law? Please leave the country.
