Mainstream news is absolutely worthless. It is little more than the PR firm for our government and big business now.

That does not mean that Obama is the Antichrist, or that an ELE meteor is going to hit us in the next year. I mean, you people DO realize that the chances of an ELE happening in our lifetimes is something like 1 in 10,000,000....right?

Nobody is forcing him to be Catholic. If he doesn't want to follow their rules or doesn't like them, that's perfectly fine, he can choose whatever faith (or none at all) to follow. His beliefs obviously conflict with those of the Catholic church, and there is no reason the church should alter their beliefs to suit his. I see no problem with the actions of the church, I don't get why he or his family are whining.

It is certainly the Church's perogative but this was the result of someone seeing his post on facebook and sending to a priest. I don't think it is in the Church's best interest to go around watching what everyone does on facebook all it does is validate people to go around snooping into other people's lives.

I was confirmed Catholic way back when I was a teenager, at my parents' insistence. I subsequently rejected Christianity and religion in general as being silly and pointless. I'm definitely not unhappy with that decision.

I'm against the church regarding birth control too. They advocate the cycle method, which basically means getting to know your wife's cycle to the extent that you know when she's ovulating and when she's not, and timing your sex and whether or not you want to have children accordingly. That's fine, but if the goal is to have sex without getting pregnant, I don't see why there's a difference between that and using a condom.

I actually agree with you. If you support gay marriage then you are not Catholic. What I do find amusing is the church's hypocrisy in turning a blind eye to people who are obviously using birth control.

The Catholic Church says that using contraception is a go to hell, go directly to hell, do not pass go, do not collect $200 sin. The overwhelming majority of Catholics in the United States use birth control. Sorry that your skin is so thin that you can't see the obvious and absurd hypocrisy there.
