Ok...angry people: calm down.
My old Episcopal curch did a similar thing with pink flamigos...The way it works is, someone in the curch asks for it to be done to someone else in the church....not just a random person. Everyone already knows about the fundraiser, people who are extra-sensitive are left alone. It's all in good fun, everyone involved as a good laugh, it's like a practical joke, except everyone involved knows its going to happen.
The only problem was that local hoodlums kept stealing our flamingos...so we stopped, because we kept having to buy more.
No, you aren't going to get your yard all tresspased by strangers with a toliet, unless the people running this are total idiots. And it's not The Catholtic Church's idea, its just a local parish doing a goofy fundraiser. (Do catholics call their churchs parishes?)
