you do know that people who cannot afford insurance and do not receive it through their employer are paid for by ALL of us when they go to the hospital. And since at that point its an emergency the costs are astronomical in comparison to what it might have cost to treat something simple early on should the have had a basic level of coverage.

I don't understand why people can't reconcile the fact we all pay for everyone who is uninsured.

Tell that to McOwned. The rest of us know this and it is a reason I have been advocating, for months, a plan that has true cost containment provisions in it. This one does not.

This is EXACTLY the problem. People like you think people DESERVE to have insurance. How about people should pay their own fucking way? It's called a BENEFIT meaning an added perk of the job. It is in no way a deserved or mandated thing.

There are to many bleeding heart pansies in this country that think people DESERVE everything, instead of getting it themselves.

Take a few of the prozac in your avatar🙂 your'e gonna need it, the next few days will be rough for you

Your assumption that people will frequent a primary care physician over going to the ER is not based in reality.

One only has to look at Massachusetts to show that mandating that everyone has insurance will not reduce the reliance on the ER.

This. It is a HUGE leap of faith to think that people will suddenly stop going to ERs if they have health insurance. Hey, if it is all "free," why not go to the ER?

Just saying when and if they goto an ER they at least have SOME basic coverage.

You had six years to do something about it with 100% control of congress and your hero Bush and did nothing but put us in the situation now in.

You and your buds blew it, now suck it up or leave.

Excuse me, I did not vote for Bush. However, you did. Whose fault is it again? What a buffoon -- you accuse others of doing things that you did!

How about all those years between 1955 and 1979 when the Democrats controlled 100% of both houses of Congress? Including 1961-1968 where the President was a Democrat as well.

Or what about between 1987 and 1993 when Democrats again controlled both houses? I guess those eras don't fit in with your fucked up world view that allows you to blame everything on the Republicans.

Once again, Dave is McOWNED.

You really are dense, aren't you? I most certainly CAN answer that -- no one "deserves" anything. You have to earn it.

Why isn't the government providing me with food? After all, I work and pay taxes and food is MUCH more important than health care. Where are my free meals?

You don't know the meaning of being rich you clueless buffoon. I am middle class -- maybe upper middle class, but by no means "rich." Don't be jealous because I have a real degree and actually work to better my lot in life.

blang...I know its so tempting...but one response is enough.

Well clearly Caterpillar is the expert on healthcare here given their years of experience building construction equipment. And having 130 random economists sign on to something is about as profound as having 130 random lawyers sign on.

Maybe, just maybe, they have people that are experts at their costs of doing business? You know, people whose job it is to figure out what operating costs will be tomorrow.

I doubt a company that large is doing this purely for politics. I could be wrong but they are usually more concerned with making money than healthcare legislation. I guarantee a crapton of other large companies have done the same financial forecasts to see what/if the HC reform bill will cost them or save them. Its one of those small pieces of information that is necessary to run a company.

I don't understand why, if we are ALREADY paying for their healthcare, my taxes must go up to pay for something I am already paying for, yet the cost of healthcare (where we are already paying for them) will continue to go up.

Your argument is that we should pay for it twice? At least with UHC I am only paying once, this bill is nothing more than a big pharma/health insurance provider bailout with a few carrots thrown in for regular folk.

I would love to see how many of the current supporters would still support this bill if it was written by Republicans.

The er costs more because people go there and dont pay. If everyone payed then the ER costs would go down.

How much will CAT's healthcare costs go up if more people become uninsured passing on their burden to fewer remaining paying customers?

So costs are going to go down because people don't pay taxes and then continue to use the ER?

If a person has insurance then the insurance company pays. If everyone has insurance then the er gets payed most of the time (people can still walk on co-pays).

I know you don't see it this way but it's really that simple.
