Catalyst GPU Scaling

8.3 introduced new GPU scaling functions -most notably for Maintain Aspect Ratio which works fine. However, I want to know if anyone has had success with Centered Timings such that all lower resolutions than the display's maximum can appear unaltered (though they have actually been matted with black borders to achieve it). Note that these functions only apply to digital ouput on R5xx and R6xx GPUs and must be tested with any display options set to neutral (that is, not to alter input).

Before now, given a lower resolution than maximum the two functions were:

1) do nothing (output to digital port unaltered) in which case the the display would manage the input according to seemingly arbitrary design choices, in lieu of user configuration being available which is rare

2) fill with no regard to aspect ratio and therefore most commonly distort the image

So, essentially useless.

So what are you asking ... really?
😕

before "nothing" really worked in CCC 😛
- all the check boxes were there just to torment us
