catalyst 9.5 are on the ATI\AMD website now

They are usually leaked somewhere before being officially posted on the site. I remember it was the same situation with Cat 9.4. I don't understand how this happens however.

it's called "last minute free beta testing"... nothing like recruiting a few thousands PC gamers just dying to beta test for you. That's why have always refused to used leaked drivers. Drivers don't get leaked unless a company wants them to be.

More info here @Rage3D forums, anyway I installed the Vista x64 version,no issues to report but then very rare I get any issues .

🙂

SO I downloaded them from TechPowerUp and the package said my drivers are already up to date... Was using the 9.4 from AMD's site... Installed them anyway, so far so good.

Well, it seems the card is pumping max clocks when two screens are attached, be it under 9.4 or this leaked 9.5, under Windows 7. The moment I disconnected my HDTV, it went down to my selected clocks of 160 core and 225 memory.

I had it permaudnerclocked to those values, but it seems some of the movies didn't like it. I get flicker again when running a movie, but it's like 2-3 at the start though (cause of the GDDR5 memory - not driver related).

I checked the build driver info in CAT control panel, they are newer then 9.4s I had installed previously(Vista x64).

The flickering can be resolved by setting the same frequency for all clock states for 3D or 2D (you are underclocking so that would be 2D clock states). There are 3 different clock states in each range for 2D or 3D that is: High, Medium, Low- you can use the very early Beta of GPUtool to do this or when you modify the Bios or use other programs be sure to set the same frquency across all high, low and medium states. Worked for me when overclocking.

what is the new features of this catalyst, I just ordered a 4850 didn't know they got a new driver out. one quick question, can you install the driver but not CCC? i ask cause i plan to use rivatuner for oc so do not need CCC.

AMD will put the release notes up when it is on their website which should be later today (these drivers on techpowerup aren't 'official' yet). You can install the driver without CCC but really theres no reason you should do that- CCC is clean and useful and the built in overclocking can be enabled or disabled so you can still use Rivatuner with CCC no problem.

I couldn't access download sections on AMD site. Got the 9.5 from TechPowerUp and the CCC finally fixed the annoying pop-up issue in Win 7.

There are two links on the 9.4 page, one labeled 9.4 and the other 8.612 - with a newer date (April 8th vs May 5th). That's the one I installed some time ago (8.612) and that's the one the leaked 9.5s say is the same.

Also, the GPU scaling option is grayed out under Win7 using both sets. Also, a "Display Manager" section is missing in CCC too - was very easy to manage your screens (position between the two, resolutions, etc).

the release notes are for cat 9.4.It is just amazing to see a site of someone as prominent as AMD to be so crappy, I mean the page layout with info on date posted on and the package version or number or whatever was swapped.

Oh just give them a break. They'll probably change the notes as soon as possible. 😉

We asked Cat Maker on Twitter - if they aren't up now, they are shortly.

He is showing lack of sleep in his replies.

i am off to test 4870-X2 + 4890 vs. 4870-X2 + 4870

It's weird...I get much better minimum frames in COH stress test with 2X AA (Narrow Tent) than with no AA. No AA averages 18.2 FPS minimum, while 2x yields 25.3...go figure

This is what I'm getting when installing the "new" 9.5s. It still says driver is up to date and wants to install again...

EDIT: Seems both the Displays Manager and GPU Scaling are disabled in Win7 "for now" as there are some issues with them - should be back once Win7 hits Retail.
