Catalyst 5.8

Ok, I uninstalled 5.7s, used driver cleaner, etc...

Installed Catalyst 5.8 drivers and bam, on startup I get:

"cli.exe - Application Error

'The application failed to intialize properly (0xc0000125). Click on OK to terminate the application.'"

I wiped out all traces of the drivers yet again, reinstalled, same thing.

ANy ideas? Has this ever happened to anyone? ATI drivers are supposed to be the shiznit, according to ATI commisioned AppLabs. Hehe..

But really, help?

Several installs here without a problem..not sure what to tell you. 🙁

FYI on cli.exe:

cli.exe is installed alongside ATI's range of graphics cards with the Catalyst hardware driver range. Installs a easy-to-access taskbar icon for access to diagnostics features.

I got that error last night as well on a fresh install of SP2 and C5.8.

Isn't .NET included with SP2? If not, I didn't install .NET 1.1.

Run Windows Update anyway, and see if there's updates to .Net. It might require 1.1...I honestly don't recall for sure.

Update:

Instaled .NET 1.1 seperate from Windows Auto Update; cli.exe error no longer occurs. I also reformatted inbetween.

What I dont get is 5.7s work flawlessly??

I'm glad you eventually got it to work, but the question I would ask is, "if the 5.7s worked flawlessly, why change?" Something about "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Do the 5.8s really add that much functionality that you needed to upgrade? Is there a noticeable difference in performance since you have done so?

A lot of users reported substantial gains in FPS. I however noticed a substantial loss in performance.
