My card, Saphire X850XT 605/651 is running Doom3 way slower with the Cat 5.11's:

Both drivers ran at 1280x1024, UQ, 4x AA, same exact settings:

5.10 = 58.1
5.11 = 43.2

I installed the 5.10's back in and I'm back up to 58 fps. Did anybody else experience this? Can anybody confirm this?

BTW, I did a complete uninstall of the drivers using ATI's utility.

Yep, I just ran driver cleaner and reinstalled the 5.11s and got the same results. I went back to the 5.10s and I'm back to 58 fps.

I guess I'll stick with the 5.10s. :confused:

Have you enabled Catalyst AI under OpenGL? It has a tendency to get disabled after a driver update.

Not sure. I'll have to check into that.

any radlinker, ati tool, overclocking ...things?

The only thing I'm running is ATI Tool. The only thing I'm using it for is overclocking.

I don't know what else it could be besides something in the driver since that's the only thing that gets changed when my framerates go south.

Well, I uninstalled the 5.10s and installed the 5.11s and made sure that Catalyst A.I. was enabled. Still slower.

This is a relatively new install of XP (1 month). The only drivers I had on my system were the 5.10s, so I don't think there is a whole lot on my system that could be screwing things up.

I out of things to try. Anymore suggestions?

You can see what Tweak Town got with the new drivers here. I think you've made a mistake somewhere.

I know, that's why it's bugging me so much, and I want the extra performance.

I don't know what mistake I'm making though. I'm uninstalling and reinstalling both driver versions in the exact same way in the same order, (uninstalling, driver cleaner, reinstall) which I've done like 6 times. Everytime the results are the same.

The only thing I haven't done is tried other resolutions or IQ settings with each driver set. I dunno, this is driving me crazy.

Do you think overclocking the card has anything to do with it?

Ran a bunch at different res and settings with both drivers, settings in DOOM3 at High Quality, all thrid party software removed and the card clocked a normal speeds:

1024x768:

no AA
5.10 = 97.8 5.11 = 98.2
4xAA
5.10 = 72.7 5.11 = 62.5

1280x1024:

no AA
5.10 = 80.2 5.11 = 79.0
4xAA
5.10 = 51.9 5.11 = 45.0

1600x1200:

no AA
5.10 = 60.1 5.11 = 58.9
4xAA
5.10 = 37.4 5.11 = 32.4

It's only happening when I enable AA either through DOOM or CCC. Other than doing a fresh install of XP, I don't see what it is other than the drivers.

This is a little tangent, but BespinReactorShaft, there are PCI-E mobos for 754. Biostar one costs 60 bucks. Go get your GT.

Not sure what you mean but:

Pull down the console in Doom 3 and type "TIMEDEMO DEMO1" and hit enter. I do this 2 times since the first time is loading textures and what not. After each video setting change I restart Doom and run the demo again.

I do the exact same routine for each driver set. I can't see what I'm doing differently between drivers. I'm back to the 5.10's right now and my frames are up again. This is just plane weird.
