Catalyst 3.0a & DX9

Hi,
A couple of questions to ask you all about the above.

1) Can Catalyst 3.0a be used wo/ DX9?,
and if so, what would i do when i finally install DX9, would i install DX9 and then reinstall Catalyst 3.0a?

2) Can DX9 be unistalled without a complete reinstall of windows?
is there an uninstaller, or can i use system restore?

1) The Catalyst 3.0's are DX9 drivers. Maybe they will run w/o DX9?

Yes, I'm using them right now with DirectX 8.2 and they work fine.

is there an uninstaller, or can i use system restore?

System restore is the safest option.

Thanks guys.
I`d use system restore but for some reason, after about 2 days, it deletes all of my previous restore points
I dont think that theres such thing as DX8.2 , it only goes upto DX8.1 then 9.0 according to the MS DX info site.

What about when i install DX9? will i have to re-install the Catalyst 3.0a drivers?

I dont think that theres such thing as DX8.2

Yeah there is but it's not available as a general download. CFS3 (and maybe other Microsoft games as well) installs it.

You probably need to allocate more space for system restore.

Already have max space for system restore on c:
C: = 12% = 2290mb
D: = 6% = 1169mb
Z: = 6% = 1201mb
Get this though, i installed DX9 and re-installed Cat 3.0 this morning, have made 6 restore points from DX9 installing and other updates, only one restart since, and now it says i have none!!! WTF


Anyway,
I installed Cat3.0a last night, and brought a mag with DX9 today. Heres what i did.

Uninstalled Cat3.0a +Control Panel
restarted
installed DX9
restarted
installed Cat3.01 + control panel
restarted

I that alright, it seems to be running fine.
I gained a whole extra, 1 3dmark, whoa mega performance increase. lol
